This video is awesome! There is also a second part to this DVD, for color rendering, so look it up! I highly suggest it for students of ID. It's ONLY about rendering with traditional old school methods of marker and pastel/pencil, but all these principles still apply to digital rendering with Sketchbook or Photoshop. If you truly want to learn how to render materials, from glossy to matte, I suggest this DVD as well as the second part. If you want a strictly digital rendering how-to video, then I suggest looking elsewhere, like Renderdemo.com's DVDs.

This dye will work, but you need strong fingers to pull and hold the trigger, and you need to be ambidextrous because your fingers will truly be sore before you complete your project. Also, be sure to purchase extra cans of dye, because of a few reasons; it is only a little dye in each can, most fabrics soak the dye in, therefore it takes a good amount of extra dye to cover well and actually change the color of your item.

Turns out soft was too soft for my purposes. The product is great don't get me wrong. Just not ideal for epoxy sculpting I recommend the extra firm.

I ordered these tools after I saw a video on youtube with someone using them and they seemed to make sculpting so much easier. I was right they do and I will never go back to not using them again. I received them a week earlier than I was suppose to get them and started using them that day. They are of high quality and the price was very reasonable compared to other places that I saw advertising similar tools. I am even thinking of ordering another set just in case something happens to the ones I already have. I have no complaints regarding the tool set or the company who sold them.

These 24 vibrant colors provide all the shades needed to enhance my illustrations of insect specimens used for entomological taxonomy labs. They would be of value for any craft or educational purpose from elementary school to college and beyond. They are very readily erased by the eraser which is attached at the end of the pencil just like regular pencil erasers. These pencils sharpen with ease in your regular pencil sharpener, and the points do not break off readily. I will never be satisfied with regular colored pencils again.

Review of Van Gogh 18 Half Pan Watercolor Paint Box

I have purchased many sets of these paints in the past, as well as individual tubes, including a set of tubes from an Amazon private seller last week, however, you cannot write an actual product review for items from private sellers, so that is why I am writing it here. As an artist who has worked in watercolors for over 35 years, I have collected and used almost every brand of paint available from across the world, I love to try out new brands! I can honestly say that out of all the student quality brands that I have tried (Van Gogh, W & N Cotman, Rowney Aquafine, White Knight, Grumbacher, Koi, Marie, Reeves, Royal & Langnickel), these are by far and away the best. Van Gogh are seriously almost undetectable from artists quality in my opinion, and this is because Royal Talens use the same pigments for these as they do in their artists range (Rembrandt). Just a little less pigment to make them cheaper, and steering away from the more expensive pigments and using alternatives. The colors are beautifully translucent and bright (remember you can always tone down...but you can't tone up!), and lift from the pan instantly. The tube colors can also be squeezed into wells in a folding palette and left to dry, then used as pans if you need a bigger surface area. When left to dry like this, the colors re-wet very well and lift as easily as the ready-made pans do. I use these beautiful watercolors right alongside my artists quality brands, which include Schmincke, Maimeri, Rembrandt, Blockx, M. Graham, Daniel Smith, Sennelier, Winsor & Newton and Rowney and quite honestly can't really tell much of a difference. I absolutely recommend these as the very best paints to start out with on your watercolor adventures, and are invaluable for sketching trips and travel, as they are not too expensive to replace if you lose them. In fact, just after I wrote this review I purchased this set to add to my travel collection :)

I was in the middle of a plastic canvas project when my last needle snapped, like the two prior ones. Frantic to find a replacement, I bought these, hoping they were the right size. The smallest two were perfect and my fingers appreciate the bluntness. The eyes are also easy to thread without a threader, another item I keep breaking. The sizes are labeled 13/14/16 which may mean something to other crafters, but for me, 13 equals a saved project :-)

These stamps did the trick. While they were a little smaller than I had anticipated, they were still a fun stamp that I could use for stamping student work. The bigger ones were easier to hold on to and are a good size; however, the "Terrific", "Fantastic", and "Name?" stamps are a little harder to handle. But I still used them. There was a good variety, I didn't even get around to using all of them. Great stamps for the classroom!

As we all know, the Teachers of our youths are under paid and over worked. My wife pulls 64-70 hour work weeks and she is only teaching 1st Grade. I bought her a bunch of stamp sets to help her with grading, color coded replies, and directional guidance. I would reccomend this to any Teacher.

All the paint brushes in this product are terrible. The bristles are coated in something that make them one solid mass, until you break them up with your fingers a bit, or wash them. One brush tip broke right off the handle before I even got to use it. Definitely makes you appreciate the real brushes you can get for slightly more money at an art store. (I found great deals at)

The "canvas" they give you to start with is a tiny, 4x6 piece glued to a piece of cardboard. Only good for seeing what kind of brush strokes you can get from the different brushes.

The storage/carrying case all the stuff came in was busted in one corner. I considered sending it back for a new one, but decided to open it and check out the contents first. Glad I didn't waste the money on return shipping, because they whole thing is so cheaply made it would have been a waste of time.

The book is a great, brief introduction to oil paints, brush strokes, composition and method, as well as tips on mixing with oils/water and washing/care for your brushes. There is MUCH more information in the full version of Oil Painting for Dummies, but so much more it's a bit daunting, so this little version is helpful.

The palate is handy and the paints are good quality for a beginner.

Over all, it's a great learning tool, but probably has a lifespan of 1-2 months. Definitely need to buy better brushes.

This really is a comprehensive introduction to oil painting, if you want an inexpensive way to decide if this is the art medium/hobby for you.

If you're a beginner in clay works then this is a great tool set to buy compared to the more expensive ones. They do the job of rolling out your clay, cutting, shaping, etc. Excellent for those new to clay and once you get more experience with clay then you can move up to a set of the more expensive ones but for a starter this is great. I'd recommend it !

Review of Royal & Langnickel Soft Pastels Artist Pack, 9-Inch by 12-Inch

I bought this pastel/pad combo because I had never used a soft pastel before and wanted to get a feel for them. I noticed two things right off the bat, the pastels smell really bad and the pad only had 6 pages. I chose a landscape scene as my first subject. For the most part the pastels layed down very easily and smooth. Until I ran into a few of the sticks that were either defective or had dried out after being packaged. I think 9 or 10 of the pastels were fine but 2 or 3 were very hard and did not apply easily to the paper. It was quite annoying and I have not been able to use those colors at all. The paper seems to be of good quality and has consistent surface texture. I have used two sheets so far and it has worked very well for the pastels. I'm giving this product a 3 star rating because of the pastels that were defective. The manufacturer should have adequate quality measures in place to prevent unuseable product from reaching the customer. If they all worked fine as I had anticipated when I bought it I would give it 5 stars and be very satisfied. As far as the intended performance and value of the product I'm very happy with it. It is quite inexpensive when compared to other pastel sets and drawing pads. One other complaint about this product is the colors are not named. You can call them blue, green, orange, etc. but no proper identifcation is given on the package. Having never used pastels before I have no point of reference to judge this product but I think they're a good value for a beginner.

I ordered two different pastel kits, these went on smooth they and were are easy to blend. I'm not an artist, so I don't know what's good or bad, but I liked these the best. As far as the paper goes, I'm sure you get what you pay for.
