Great needles for the price. Seem smooth. Looking forward to making some socks. I have longer DPN's, but too clumsy for small projects.Best Deals for BambooMN 7" Double Point Bamboo Knitting Needles - 15 sizes 2mm
I purchased this item because I wanted to expand my DPN collection...I mostly use DPNs for knitting i-cord and as stitch holders, so I needed a wide range of sizes but didn't want to spend a fortune. So far, I have been very pleased with these needles! They are very smooth (comparable to the Crystal Palace bamboo needles I have) and nicely finished. Each needle is marked with both US and mm size...this appears to be laser-printed/etched on the needle (as none of the markings have rubbed off of the needles I've used so far), but unlike some other bamboo needles it is very smooth rather than being etched deeply enough to create a rough spot/snag point on the needle (a problem I have occasionally encountered with Clover Takumi bamboo needles).
I have not yet used the smallest needles (the set goes down to a US0), but they do seem to be both strong and flexiblle enough to handle fine-gauge sock or lace knitting...although they may feel somewhat fragile to a tight knitter or one who is accustomed to stainless steel or plated brass needles.
My one complaint about this product doesn't have to do with the needles themselves at all, but rather the packaging. I like to keep my knitting needles stored in their original packaging, to keep them neat and all pieces together in the storage box I use. However, these needles are packaged in very thin and easily punctured/torn cellophane...when I unpacked the needles, I discovered than one of the smaller sets had punctured its package and torn open the bottom. All the needles were there, but the package was unusable as storage. For the price of this excellent set though, that's something I'm happy to work around! I sewed up a quick needle roll to keep these DPNs in.
I highly recommend this set for anyone looking to expand or round out their DPN collection without breaking the bank.
