Ah. I love these paints. They're wonderful to work with, not waxy at all and they last such a long time. I bought two of these 36 color cake sets sets three or four years ago. I am an avid watercolor painter, so I use them a lot and I'm just now needing to get a new set or two and I still have a well amount of paint. I really would recommend these paints if you're looking for a cheap, but very lasting and good quality water color set. (=

I have to admit, I'm a fan of the more "tacky" watercolor cakesthe kind that are a bit translucent and almost like a dry slab of gel (sort of like the Crayolas that we had as kids). If you would put your fingertip on them, they'd leave a little print. To me, they always seem a little more saturated and smooth when they go down on paper and retain their translucency.

These Loew Cornell SimplyArts are definitely DRY and more opaque watercolor cakes. However, with a bit of water, they form a beautiful, vibrant paint that performs beautifully. Add a little water, you get an opaque creamy paint that lays down thick. Add more water, and the paint grows more translucent.

I use them for art journaling, projects with lots layers, and projects with my daughter. Them seem to do nicely on all surfaces, but because they are so dry to begin with, they require quite a bit of water to get them properly going, and so its recommended to stick to thicker papers.

I think these would be great for student use of non-archival art use. I do know several professional artists that use these regularly and swear by them, so that's good enough recommendation for me. I can't vouch for colorfastness or how bad they do fade over time and exposure to light, but if you are painting things you really want to keep and display for decades, you'll probably already know how lightfast and archival your materials are.

The color palette, however, is AMAZING. And the size of the paints is impressive. To get a range of these colors for the price is a steal. The Big Box stores have them for about five dollars, so you might want to keep that in mind. But even for any price point under ten, these are a great bargain and will REALLY inspire you.

I have been painting using this exact set for the last 8 years. Yes, 8 years on one set, creating hundreds of paintings. The colors are bold and vibrant. There is a modestly chalky finish, but something to be expected with watercolor cakes (which I prefer over the tubes). Unlike some whites, this one actually shows up over other colors (surprise!). My white and black were finally starting to get low, so I decided to try a few options: Watercolor pencils, Nicole Crafts watercolors, and Yamasoto watercolors. I would rank these on par with Nicole Crafts watercolors, though modestly more chalky, and better than the other two. I believe this set can be used by the professional, the amateur, or the child with no discrepancy.

If I have one complaint, it is the color selection. There are a dozen shades of red and purple, and four browns (two of which are nearly identical). If you plan to paint flowers, you will be very happy, but I paint animals in landscapes, and the colors were very limiting to me. I still have two colors that I have never used, yet my browns are nearly gone.

If you are serious about watercolors and want to use cakes, I recommend buying this set along with the Nicole Crafts 36-color set. That will give you a wide selection of colors (with a little overlap on colors you use a lot of).

I purchased the Crochet Lite Hook, size G, mainly because it's 4.5mm, most G hooks are 4mm. I've been crocheting over 40 years; 95% of the time I use Boye aluminum hooks. The plastic Crochet Lite was a little hard to get used to because yarn doesn't slide off of it like it does with an aluminum hook. Also the shank seemed a little short, but I soon got used to it. Like Boye crochet hooks, the Crochet Lite is a tapered hook. Another type of hook is called inline. Bates hooks are inline hooks. An inline hook does not taper at the throat.

This hook is light in weight, not heavy at all. The wider handle makes it easy to hold if you have arthritis in your fingers. The switch is on the side of the handle & doesn't get in the way. Batteries come with the Crochet Lite hook. The shaft lights up to provide some light in the immediate area you're crocheting. Depending on how dark the room is, I might have to hold the shaft above the area I'm crocheting to see a few of the stitches in the row. Most of the time, I don't need to use the light. It does come in handy when the room is dark & helps make seeing the stitches a little easier. Once in a while, when I'm using a very dark yarn, I will turn the light on to help me see the stitches too.

All in all, the Crochet Lite hook is handy for crocheting in low-light areas or for helping see the stitches in dark yarn. The wide handle makes it easier for someone with arthritis to hold.

I bought one of these at first and have now purchased all sizes available.

They are great to use in low light and/or with dark yarns. They don't really help any in decent light with light yarn, but that's not what they're made for.

They are Sooooooooo comfortable to use with the larger, non-slip place to hold. What I noticed right off is that the "business end" is a little short. I guess I use more of the hook than I thought. At first, I kept hitting the handle. I did get used to it quite quickly, though, and no longer do that. If you do a lot of roll stitches, it probably wouldn't be a good idea.

The other issue, which isn't one as long as you realize it, is that the sizes are not true. If you need a size I, for example, order a size H; for size H, order size G. Unfortunately, they don't come larger than a size J. Hopefully, the company will expand its line.

Overall, I'm really happy with them and would buy more sizes if they were available. I only gave a 4-star rating because of the short usable shank and the limitation of sizes available.

I just ordered two hooks and am so excited to use them. I got these so quick and they are so helpful for dark yarn and crocheting in the dark. I have tried crocheting when I go to the movies and can do it but I think these hooks will make it so much easier and now my hubby doesn't have to keep lights on when we are watching a movie at home. At first I thought this was kind of expensive for one hook but they are well worth the money.

I am a scrap-booker and have brought these to make cards with stamps. It is a good starter set with enough blending colors to keep you occupied. I do recommend that you test out each marker on scratch paper first. I had brought a swatch book to go with the markers and excitedly began filling it in. Some of the nibs are saturated with ink that at first touch you get a big blob. I will now have to purchase another swatch book. Great colors though.

I am a professional artist and I work in oils. I have used a variety of detail brushes of a wide range of quality and material. When it comes down to it, they all lose their shape over time no matter how careful you are with them the better brushes just last longer and have much finer points.

This set gives me 8 usable brushes for the cost of one really good brush and with a lot of care they have held up remarkably well. I find that for oil painting, all but the two longer bristled brushes are stiff enough to hold paint but flexible enough to be manipulated with control. The short handles are nice for me because I initially bought them for a compact, portable painting setup. The bristle tips haven't "chunked out" the way that cheap stiff bristle brushes do, creating an undesirable saw edge, and after 6 months of steady use have not lost any bristles (of course, I am careful not to wash them in warm/hot water, too).

As far as oil painting goes (and assuming the quality I received is the same with every set ordered) these are pretty decent brushes for your average painter or for beginners, and perfectly fine for professionals who don't need ultra-fine line work but still need to get into detailed areas and not worry about going through as many expensive detail brushes in the process.

I use these brushes for modeling. They are of decent quality for the price and do the trick for me. I havent had these brushes lose hair while painting but they have lost their shape quite a bit after approximately 20 uses. But like I said, for the price they are about what I expected. I'm going to be springing for some higher quality replacements soon.

I paint D&D figures and warhammer 40k figures, and its really hard to find a good lot of DETAIL brushes for a good price. At my local craft store, brushes of this quality are about 6 to 10 dollars A PIECE! Talk about insane. This bundle was a great value for me and the brushes are VERY NICE quality. Smooth strokes, good fibers or hair (looks like real hair to me. :D) and all the brushes are actually weighted very nicely. Deffinately feels like quality and paints like it as well! These are very good budget brush set. When I got them, there were two brushes that looked bad but I decided not to return them because these were minor problems. I only used three brushes and they worked fine. I have no complaints about they brushes. There good for the average person who wants to have some fun painting detailed things. Highly reccomended.

Everything was as ordered even if it took forever to get here. I can understand that because they are quite far away from my state. However, the brushes do not fit in the holding compartment at all and you can only put a few of the paints in there. If the dividers could be removed then maybe you can hold all of your brushes and a few paint. Also, when I opened the paints, the paint started coming out of the top leaking out to the point I couldn't put the lid on until I removed all of it; in an effort to not waste the it I had to figure out how to use it all before I cleaned up. Other than that it works perfectly and very helpful if you want to move from place to place.

I purchased this with some apprehension, as any painter knows there is a large range of quality in any painting supplies, from extremely poor to excellent. I am now happy to say it is a great buy. It is not what you would consider to be premium quality, but certainly not poor quality either. It terms of value for the price, I was pleasantly surprised. More than reasonable cost for everything that is included. Everything I needed is included, instructions are easy to follow are detailed, and final painting is lovely. The project is suitable for any painting skill level. I did use different brushes than the ones provided, but this is a simply because of personal preference, not any problem with the brushes that are included.

Review of Speedball Diazo Photo Emulsion Kit

This was identical (other than color) to what we used in a professional screen printing shop. Moderation is key or you will have quite a mess on your hands... and screen, and floor, and anything else you are near. I used this with the YUDU printing machine. It worked well for the small jobs I did. I just used the ink squeegee that came with the machine. It probably would've been easier with a better squeegee but I was just doing one or two screens at a time and it didn't require a lot of precision. If you have a smaller design, you can put emulsion only across where your design will be to conserve. Just be sure to tape it off well. You can spread this stuff pretty thin too. I think I made 10 or 15 full screens with this bottle. It's the consistency of white glue and smells pretty similar. If you spill, it's easy to clean up with a wet cloth/paper towel or wait til it dries and peel it off. This is easily removed with the YUDU emulsion remover.

The first thing you want to do is check that nothing has broken, spilled, or dried. The emulsion with be thick like glue and blue in color. The remover will be thin and clear like medical alcohol or bleach. Both should have cardboard gasketed lids and foil caps on them. The sensatizer (tiny bottle) should be either dry and at the bottom, or thick and at the bottom. If any of the sensatizer is spilled out of the little bottle (along the threads or down the side) send the kit back for a new one immediately. The product is good if you get it undamaged, but Speedball uses incompetant monkey powered robots made from scrap pulled from the Robot Wars set to package everything so check your stuff.

As for operation, when the sensatizer is added to the emulsion it turns a good medium (not quite emerald) green and will turn back to blue after it cooks out when you burn the stencil. Look for a light-medium blue hue and the uncooked parts under the negative image should have a yellow, jaundace like hue to them. When cleaning out the emmulsion make sure to wipe up messes immediately as the emulsion leaves yellow stains on nearly every surface known to man, including porcelin and the steel rim around my sink. Trial and error for new users will happen, just don't leave emulsion in a screen for a long period of time if you don't want a permenant stencil, and clean the screen completely before letting it dry if you don't want a permenant stencil (yes the emulsion remover may make the emulsion impossible to remove. Don't ask me how, I failed mad science 101).

I've used screen printing products on and off for quite a few years now on various projects. Because my projects varied, I was never able to nail down a good exposure time. This product made exposure easy. It changes color as it hardens so all you have to do is keep an eye on it, and when the exposed area turns blue You're done! So easy.

I bought this product because the Yudu products are too expensive. I haven't tried the sheets that come with a Yudu yet, I hear they are difficult. This one took a bit of trial & error to get the thickness etc correct. But after some trial, I learned not to get it too thick. I use a paintbrush to apply & a squeegee to even it out. Then you dry in the rack. It's pretty easy once you experiment.

i generally think of Speedball screenpinting products as being good for amateurs and beginners. While I've transitioned away from Speedball products for the most part in my seven years screenprinting I have stuck with Speedball's photo emulsion because it always gives me great results. This photo emulsion creates great results, the quality and resolution of the imagines I've fixed with this photo emulsion is always great and the only thing limiting the fine details is the mesh count of my silkscreen fabric, not the photo emulsion.

This photo emulsion kit is easier to work with using a homemade setup, I use a 300 watt bulb that I bought at the hardware store for 3 dollars. Cleanup is always easy and this photo emulsion seems to be less toxic than a lot of the other competitors. Overall a great product that I recommend to everyone who wants to get into screen printing.

I am obsessed with these adhesive silk screens. I hope they continue to make more designs. I first purchased the paisley silk screens for a country/western style wedding. We used them to stencil glass jars and they turned out amazing. The sticky material allows you to stencil on something round without it slipping. After you finish, just rinse them out and put them back in the plastic and you can use them over and over.

I read the review that said it made a mess. After experimenting with them alot, I've found that A. make sure you have it on the right side. If you have it on the wrong side up it bleeds through. B. Take the stencil off immediately!

I recommend giving it a try, I absolutely love them.

I bought this at Michaels Store got home tried it and it absolutly sucks! You paint over it and the paint bleeds through so when you pull it up it is a huge mess! Then you have to rinse it off after it is used, and the design comes off! It isnt sticky after you wipe it off, even if you tape it down it still bleeds through. Waste of money!
