We use these scissors daily to cut carpet and leather -thick fabrics -so you need something strong (blades don't flex), sharp (edge is good) and good control. We have used for many years and had to replace some older ones that could no longer be sharpened.

I've been using office shears to cut through photo paper and vinyl prints from our large format printer which wasn't working well. I went on to Amazon.com to look for better shears and decided upon the Mundial tailor shears because of the vinyl I cut and because the Mundial name kept coming up. It's worked well for me. Get a shear sized to your projects. It's worth a few extra dollars.

First review ever on amazon. Felt compelled to write one considering the quality of the product. We've used Gingher, Fiskar, etc and they don't compare to Mundial. My work uses exclusively this brand of industrial shears for cutting thick foam/condensed cork materials ranging 1/8 of an inch to one inch to make orthotic devices for patients, it easily cut through them. Imagine how thick that is of cork. Your fabric or paper will seem like cutting through air. There is no comparison to quality of the materials used in these shears or the edge already sharpened into it. Even after it starts to dull it's easy to resharpen. We never had any problems, ever using these. We own at least 20 pairs in our workshop and continue to only use this brand of shears. If you want a pair of shears that will last longer than you will live, these are them. If you want a pair of heavy duty shears, these are them. If you want the job done, they'll do just that.

Handle with caution, these aren't Kindergarten scissors.

This pair of scissors is the most solid and heavy duty that I have seen. The craftsmanship makes me feel like I received more than my money's worth, (considering that these are not a cheap pair, this is saying a lot.). Comparing these to Gingher or Fiskars is no comparison at all; the other two brands are not bad, but the Mundial are heirloom quality and I have no doubt that they will outlive me. If you want to buy the best, look no further. On a side note, I have larger hands and they fit me just fine. Also, this is not a small pair of scissors; if you are planning on cuttung through vinyl/cardboard/your house, these are your pair. If, however, you are wanting a pair to nip threads or cut intricate details into the thinnest of materials, this may be overkill.

These are great scissors and worked perfectly for our intended purpose, to cut thick rug pads. They seem well made and should last forever. But be aware that they are somewhat tedious to use because they are so big and heavy, and we took frequent breaks in our trimming tasks for that reason. Moreover, they are wickedly sharp. I accidentally brushed my little finger across a blade, so lightly I didn't even feel it, and it cut like a razor.
