The stamps themselves are great. They have a hard foam backing that shows the picture that is being stamped. These are larger stamps, absolutely perfect for a toddler's or young preschooler's hands. Most stamp sets I found were too small for my daughter to handle successfully, but these were great. The ink is fantastic easy to use without being messy or runny. My one disappointment is that the stamp pad that comes with these sets is always black. I bought a couple of sets, thinking that the color of ink would be randomly chosen and I could get some variety that way, but no if I want color I will have to buy the stamp pads separately.

Through trial and error, I'm learning. These are BIG "spongy" stamps, unlike the previous Aladine From the Sea and Aladine Fast Machines rubber stamps, which were disappointingly small (probably my fault for not putting two and two together when reading the product descriptions).

But I digress. My not-quite 3-year old son was a bit "meh..." about the smaller stamps, but took right to the larger ones, pushing down on the foamy backs with all his might, and having no trouble making bold impressions of the various animals. Some of the animals are in sets to include baby + mama or daddy, to facilitate creation of a compelling story line or just general grouping. And they're all big enough to be colored in later with crayons.

These are large and therefore easy to clean, and seem relatively durable for their dense foam construction. The included black ink pad was moist just large enough for the largest stamp, though the method of capping the pads is somewhat fragile and difficult for little fingers to remove (which in most respects is a good thing).
