These things are tiny, like the size of my thumb nail. They feel more like a "sampler" set of colors. The colors are lovely, very vibrant, but run out quickly. Don't expect to make an actual drawing with these, you will either run out half way through, or worse, you won't be able to hold them because they are too short..

I was a little afraid to buy these because of the price, but they are just as good as any others I've tried and have an incredible variety. I'm glad I bought.Best Deals for Loew-Cornell Soft Half Pastels, 64-Count
Seller did their job well, no complaints there! The product is just horrible. I read the reviews, even on other websites and most like these. I purchased them because I was looking for "soft pastels". That is what these stated. They are so hard it's ridiculous! Most of what I need them for was to scrape pigment from the sides of the pieces. Jeepers, they are so hard that I cannot seem to get a nice, powdery scraping off them, and yes, I've tried using different implements and blades. It only scrapes off in chunks with a little bit of powder. I would NOT recommend these for this type purpose at all. Who knows, maybe mine were lemons??? Absolutely great color selection though. I've seen other, very inexpensive, "soft" pastels that were wonderful, just didn't have the color diversity I'm needing. And, I definitely don't need "expensive" soft pastels at all because of how I'm using them. I just need color diversity and "srape-ability" (my word, no slamming plz) creating a soft powder from "SOFT" pastels in a nice range of pigments. I've even tried to work them on paper and "eek", literally like scraping chalk on chalkboard! lol, creepy and not kidding! It was like scraping a chunk of wood across the paper, and wouldn't hardly lay down any pigment either. So, depending on what you are needing these "soft" pastel for, choose accordingly! CiaoHonest reviews on Loew-Cornell Soft Half Pastels, 64-Count
What's mentioned on almost all reviews are the actual size of these pastels, and honestly, they're tiny. Each pastel is about an inch long, but has two skinnier, and longer pastels that are black and white. Surprisingly, none were broken when they came. The colors are bright, pretty, and VERY pigmented. This set is great for beginners! Since it's small and more like a 'sampler', don't expect to use them over and over again for big projects, but you will get the most out of it.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Loew-Cornell Soft Half Pastels, 64-Count
