Yarka gouache is a good for the money. It has strong pigment. Not a great lightfastness of the colors. It is very opaque; pencil drawing does not show through the paint. It does not leave streaks of color but leaves round spots when you cover a large area. It is safe for kids, ACMI non-toxic.

The jars are very difficult to open and when you do open it, the paint often splashes. After paint dries it becomes much lighter. The thickness of the paint is inconsistent. Black is more watery than other colors. Yarka is far from professional quality.

I am very upset, that the seller thinks that the consumer would not know the difference between the paints made in Russia and the paints made in China!!!, and has the nerve to show and describe one, but send the other (also has a picture of Parrots!).

Here is a part of the description of Yarka Gouache:

"The same Moscow artist paint factory which makes the student watercolor sets also manufactures the Yarka gouache set. Each of the twelve gouache colors comes in 40ml plastic jars. Yarka gouache is serious quality........"

So, the productI have nothing against, and will still get it (elsewhere).It's the seller's practices that I rate so poorly, unless they tell me that they made an innocent mistake, confused by the picture of the Parrots...I'll follow up on that with another review after I contact them.

What a disappointment and a waste of my TIME!

im an art teacher, and this set is perfect for my students. one thing you should know though, is that there is no primary blue, it's more of a dark, warmer blue.

THIS PRODUCT IS ADVERTISED AS YARKA, A RUSSIAN COMPANY THAT MAKES FAIRLY GOOD PRODUCTS, BUT YOU SENT SOMETHING THAT WAS MADE IN CHINA.

The paint is nice to work with. It's not dry. The only problem i have is: that white color is running out much faster then others. I would be happy to buy it separately.
