I used this on a little girls dress to help line it up for an embroidery hoop. The dress is now done and beautiful, except for the yellow chalk line I cannot get to come out.Best Deals for Dritz Quilting Chalk Cartridge Set
I spent weeks hand quilting a quilt to give as a baby gift only to discover that the colored chalk DOES NOT COME OFF! I have tried several products trying to remove the stains but nothing works. Do not buy this product!!!!!!Honest reviews on Dritz Quilting Chalk Cartridge Set
I don't buy these on Amazon & I didn't read any reviews before using. I've been sewing for ~30 years and I've used lots of other types/brands of chalk/pencil/ink markers for sewing in the past without an issue. Sewers & quilters please TEST removal of these carefully on any surface that will show!!! I made the mistake of tracing very faint lines on the surface of a quilt (cream colored cotton, yellow chalk marker) and now I'm not sure if I will ever get the marks out. I was careful not to apply any heat, and use low pressure/light marks. I've tried brushing gently, brushing with a stiff brush, cool water, & rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad. The best combo so far was brushing (gently, with a stiff brush) followed by dabbing rubbing alcohol with a cotton pad followed by a dry pad (be warned, the alcohol can make some fabric colors run, so pretest on a scrap if you try this method). In bright light it still looks like someone...um...peed on the corner of my quilt where I used the markers. Kind of a bummer but I guess I should have read reviews. I'm hoping when I wash it (with stain remover) these marks will come out. These may be best left for other uses where showing/removal is not an issue. I wish Dritz would market these differently (not for quilters). They may be able to use for sewing in places where the marks won't show (within seam lines/hems) but I'd test there for bleeding as well. For now, they are going into my general art supply stash and out of my sewing supplies.
Pros:
Lots of colors
Sharper than my other chalk products
Easy to interchange
Very bright/easy to see marks
Cons:
Difficult or impossible to get marks off of fabric
Very bright/easy to see marks
