I have been grain painting for several years now. We purchased a mid 1800's home that originally was grain painted and was painted over. So, I took on the task of turning things around. Windows & work completed upstairs, I began down. Half-way through, my trusted grain painting tool fell apart. Back to the store to get another-the same style & brand were no longer sold!! Tried a few others without success.

After searching online, I finally came across this one and thought I had hit the jack-pot! Not to be. . . simply put: it is terrible! I had gotten into a rhythm and could work quickly and ended up with just the right 'look.' Even had a local painter compliment me on my work. This one just doesn't cut it, no matter how I try to use it.

So..... all I can say is "it's terrible" and if you're looking for the 'right one' for the job.... keep looking!

We have no prior training. Just a few rocks on this as you pull it down with some glazed brown paint, and you have what looks to be a very interesting wood grain finish. We plan to do this to our daughter's closet doors to make them seem like raw wood.

I faux wood grained my metal radiator covers. They look great.My only complaint is sometimes the handle comes loose on the grainer.

Works as advertised and very easy to use.

It did take me a few tries to get it to look the way I wanted, but its just a matter of learning the tricks involved.

Biggest tip is what ever paint/glaze your using for the graining coat, Put it on thin... To thick and it doesn't

work as well. This one is about 3 inches wide.
