Don't waste your time with any other brand no matter how inexpensive, you will be ripping your hair out. Aunt Martha's makes tracing and ironing a breeze!

Transferring an embroidery design onto heavy linen takes ingenuity. This type of linen doesn't work well on a light box or most tracing papers. Thus, I needed a transfer pen which could be ironed onto the linen. I tried the Sulky transfer pens, but a test piece showed me that the lines became much thicker when ironed onto linen. So, back I went to Amazon to find a different pen for the job. Here, I came across these inexpensive red pencils by Aunt Martha. When they arrived, I followed the simple instructions (flip the design over and draw BACKWARDS! over the design, then iron it on. My test showed a perfect transfer onto the linen, although the lines were paler than with the Sulky pens. But...the lines remained thin enough to cover with embroidery, without having any of the lines show. Also, these lines are erasable with a regular pencil eraser from the paper or the linen in case you make a mistake! What wonderful tools these pencils are for any embroiderer! They worked perfectly for me.

They could be better. I have to go over lines several times to make it stay. They don't sharpen well and waste too much of the pencil.
