With my eyesight deteriorating more than I ever thought it would, this headset has been awesome. I may look like a dork wearing it, but I am a dork who can completely see everything I am doing, and doing so with sufficient lighting. I don't know how this headset compares to higher-priced ones because this is the first and only I have owned, but once I figured out some of the parts/features, I realized how smart of a purchase this was.

At first, I was a little upset when the headset kept falling on the bridge of my nose and it hurt. Then I realized if I tightened the silver knobs on the sides, the headset no longer fell on my nose. Imagine that?!

Same thing with the loupe magnifier -it kept falling in front of my sight even when I didn't want it to. I only had to tighten the screw to fix this problem.

Now, if I really read the description thoroughly, I would have remembered that it said that it had an adjustable light and magnification. I owned the headset over a month before I realized this.

I wanted a magnifier that didn't take up table space and that didn't require me to hold in my hand. It never entered my mind to consider a headset but it was the best decision for me once I did some research. I use my headset to work on my laptop and jewelry when I have to take them apart or read the small print. I also use this for sewing/threading my needle, which is one of the reasons why I plan to purchase one for my mom.

Since my eyesight is just poor, period, I have also used the headset when working on my nails and searching for ticks on my dogs. I would rather grab for the headset than my handheld magnifier since the headset provides additional lighting which I do not always realize I need until afterwards. Also, the headset keeps both my hands free.

This is great for anyone working with tiny items, someone with poor eyesight, or anyone who doesn't want to strain their eyes on tiny items/print and inadequate lighting. I have found my own uses for this product but I am sure there has to be more.

I am a middle aged aircraft mechanic who is beginning to have trouble with my eyesight. I ordered 2 of these, one for home and one for work. The plastic, binocular lenses work great for use at 1/2 arms length. There is a secondary, flip-down binocular lens inside the hood which doubles the magnification and halves the focal length. Turn the round loupe lens into the right eye's line of sight and you have a near microscope! The head band is one hand adjustable to a variety of noggin' sizes. (Almost everyone at the hangar has tried it on.) My only complaint would be that the two knobs one either side which hold the hood in position could be larger and hold better, but if you crank 'em down, they're OK.
