This is a 1-inch wide mat with white core; fine for 4"x6" photos. They aren't up to what I consider professional artist standards, but I bought these to mount my 4x6 watercolor studies, for which they're adequate. The thin cardboard backing does not appear to be acid free but is coated on both sides; the back of the mat itself is also coated. And the clear envelopes both fit and seal perfectly.
