I bought this after I had ordered the embosser, but before it had arrived. I was unaware that the shim and mat came with the embosser bundle. Even though I do not need them now I am glad I have the extras because if, by chance, I should accidentally ruin one of them I will not have to wait for a replacement. On my manual embosser I did accidentally ruin one of the rubber mats and was not able to use my machine until I got a replacement.
