The color is good and like it but have my life sectioned off with the snap seperators it is a good addition to my bracelet but only because my daughter has one like it.

Even though I do not need them now I am glad I have the extras because if, by chance, I should accidentally ruin one of them I will not have to wait for a replacement. Best Fiskars 12-66007097 ScrapBoss Starter Set Deals

Fiskars, well-known for their scissors and paper punches, makes a great system for embossing, stenciling and cutting. It's super for scrapbooking and cardmaking. Everything in these sets works together. I have several of the sets, and thought you might be interested in this versatile system.

The first piece that you need is the Scrapboss. Measuring 12 inches by 12 inches, it's big enough for full-size scrapbook pages. Templates are fastened to it by repositionable pegs. Underneath, there's a storage tray to store templates and paper. It comes with 2 styluses, some stencils, and a project book. The Scrapboss can use any stencils and templates that Fiskars makes.

There's a smaller cousin, the Shapeboss. It fits stencils and templates that are 9 inches by 11 inches and smaller. It comes with a stylus and some stencils. It does not have the storage tray. For the smallest sizes, try the Cardboss or Mini ShapeBoss Set The stencils listed on those pages both work on the Scrapboss and Shapeboss.

Embossing and Stenciling

Embossing and stenciling are very easy with this system. The laser-cut stencils come in two parts. First you lay the bottom piece on the Scrapboss, then the top piece. The top piece has grid lines and is marked, "top." Next I usually put a couple pegs in the corners to hold it securely in place. I position the paper, cardstock, or thin metal in between the two pieces and, start embossing. The styluses comes with different size tips. Smaller tips are better for detailed areas, while large areas can be finished quickly with the bigger tips.

The stencils come in a large variety, from abstract lines and letters, good for lots of pages, to holiday and baby themes. If you click on the small pictures on this page and this page, you can see the details of each one.

Sometimes I emboss right on a 12x12" scrapbook page and create borders and frames. I also make embellishments by embossing smaller pieces or copper pieces. I usually emboss before cutting them out. It's easier.

Another set that I use alot to make photo mats and embellishments for scrapbooking and cards are the Texture Plates. They're made of hard plastic with holes at the top for the pegs. Each is two-sided, with a different texture on each side. The assortment pack is a great value and contains 6 double sided plates (12 designs) including hearts/ stars, lines/waves, bubbles/dots, squares/fabric, stones/bricks and wood/leaves.

I use the Texture Plates with the Shape Templates that I'll talk about later to create my own textured die-cuts. For example, I put the heart shape template on the Scrapboss with a hearts texture plate beneath it. I slide my paper in-between. I emboss inside the heart shape, creating a hearts texture. Then I cut out the heart shape. It's very cute! I also like to create titles this way, using the letter and number shape templates and the other texture plates.

Cutting

The Fiskars templates for cutting are designed for the ShapeCutter. It's a very safe and accurate way to cut out clean shapes and letters. The cutting mat and shape templates fit the Scrapboss or Shapeboss and have holes to secure them with the pegs. Using the ShapeCutter is very simple. Hold the base of the ShapeCutter inside the template and follow around the edge. To cut a freehand design, I just look down at the blade and follow my traced line. The blade is adjusted by a knob on top for different paper thicknesses.

The ShapeTemplates are sturdy plastic with grid lines, and can be stored in a binder. They have several shapes on each one, and some have border designs along the sides. They come in many varieties and letters and numbers. There's also a set of Super Size ShapeTemplates. On these, you can use the inside and outside of each shape, That's great for cropping a photo and creating a matching shape mat.

Overall, I use the Scrapboss alot in my paper-crafting. It's very versatile, and I can create many different looks, cards, and layouts.

I love making my own greeting cards!! This adds a new dimension to my creations and it's fun and easy to use. There is storage on the inside for full scrapbook sized sheets of paper as well as more stencil sets and the embossing tools and pegs. The only drawback to this, for me, is the size. It's really designed for scrap bookers so it's quite large, about 16 inches square, so I wish I had gotten a smaller version for myself. If you don't scrapbook and mainly work on smaller items then you might want to get one of Fiskars smaller versions of this. Either way, they're all pretty much the same. Easy to use, with excellent results (keep a scrap from a white candle handy and rub the tip of your embossing tool on it, it really helps the tool glide across the paper) I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys papercrafts all all sorts.

Did not realize it was a storage case too! That's gotta be my favorite feature. Comes with 2 tools (bonus!!) and a stencil pattern (which I didn't have before, but now I have another one to add to my inventory!!) which is really great! The booklet inside has some really great ideas I wouldn't have thought of and it's directions are easy to follow. I have tried embossing with Fiskars stencils before, and have griped that I didn't get this board when it was in the stores. I am so happy now that I have it, and I now also have a place to keep my stencils.

How to save yourself some dough and reuse your old mats: purchase Aleene's TACK-IT Over & Over (Not to be confused with Aleene's Tacky Glue) at a craft store and make a solution of 60% water and %40 glue. Paint it on the mat with a foam brush taking care to avoid the non-sticky edges. Let dry completely (about 30 minutes), then walk your hands all over the mat several times to keep it from being TOO sticky. Ta-da! I have tried this and it works GREAT!!! If your mat gets too much built up glue, simply remove it with acetone nailpolish remover, rinse with water, and start fresh.

I am a pen freak, a pen collector, a pen addict. I love pens. Fancy pens, cheap pens, expensive pens, pens I find, pens I hunt down, and this is my new favorite.

This is a great pen for signing documents and when you feel bold and want the line of your handwriting (remember that-LOL) to reflect your feeling.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like a marker, but it's a visible line.

I often love and have oodles of 3mm and 5mm lines, but this is bolder than a Flair pen for example and just feels good in your hands. The pen has a classic, artsy, yet simple design. I am never ashamed to pull it out in public. It's got style.

So, artists enjoy and pen freaks, give it a shot. The colors are nice, too! Sometimes only red will do. They have purple and the world definitely needs more purple ink.

the product itself is okay, a little smaller then I expected. But the box seems to be sturdy. the problem was this. the bottle of brush cleaner (turpentine) was not closed or sealed and the whole bottle leaked inside of the case. Brushes, paint seals, gum eraser, any glue on the inside of the case. All dissolved. since this product came from the UK and took 3 weeks to get here. I do not believe I will ask for a replacement.

I compared the following fabric shears, listed in order of how well I liked them:

1. The Kai 7250: 10 inch Professional Shears N7250 (7250) Professional Shears

2. The Gingher 10 Inch Knife Edge Bent Trimmers (Note: I list these here because I prefer this length, but I only tested the 8" and 12" models below.)

3. The Kai 7300: 12 inch Professional Shears N7300 (7300) Professional Shears

4. The Gingher Knife Edge Bent Trimmers 12

5. The Gingher G-8T KE Tailors Shears, 8-Inch

6. The Gingher G-8 8-Inch Knife-Edge Dressmaker's Shears

7. The "Kai 110: 11 inch Tailoring Shears S-110 (S-110) Professional Shears"

8. The "Kai 7240-AS: 10 inch Serrated Edge Shears N7240-AS (7240-AS) Professional Shears"

I bought all the Ginghers on Amazon, and all the Kais from their web site (Amazon doesn't sell them). I evaluated them by cutting eight 4" long layered sheets of lightweight cotton fabric at once. My criteria were:

smoothness of cutting

was the edge straight, or did it wave?

comfort of scissors (hand position, weight, tightness of grip)

how often did I have to open the scissors to cut the 4" fabric?

With all 8" shears I had to open them too often, resulting in more effort needed to get a straight cut. With all 12" shears I had to open them too wide, which was difficult even with my very large (size 10+) hands. I thus settled on a 10" pair.

The Ginghers are all excellent -better than any of those colored-handle shears I've tried. They are rumored to last 25 years, and they're not that expensive ($25). Of those, the tailoring shears were ever-so-slightly smoother than the dressmaker shears. Not sure why.

But the Kai 7000 series were simply better. They're smoother, lighter-weight, sharper, nicer engineering, and they offer a $14 sharpening service. Wow. Them's be some sharp scissors. Holy cow. Did the "let's gently run my thumb perpedicular to this blade" test and a minute later realized I was bleeding... Didn't even feel it. Must also say the customer service was top-notch. They sent me the 3 pair I wanted to test in advance, and didn't charge my card till I picked the one I liked best.

Yes, they're $70. But Gingher's 10" pair are $50, too. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, I'd get the "Gingher G-8T KE Tailors Shears, 8-Inch" ($25). If you're looking for the best fabric shears period, I'd get the Kai 7000 series (the 10" ones for me).

Update (01/09/2013): A fellow reviewer pointed out to me that Amazon now carries some of the Kai shears. I have added links above to those they carry at this time. And I still recommend looking at the manufacturer's web site. They offered me super service -really above and beyond.

I've been given a pair of Gingher shears as a bridal shower gift (I made my own wedding dress) and they have been my favorites throughout the last 17 years. They are sharp right to the tips, an essential feature of the shears needed for trimming seams.

I purchased a second pair so that I'd have one to use while my originals went back to the Gingher factory for sharpening (a service they provide for a mere $7.50). I hope in time to have all Gingher shears in my sewing room!

I can't say enough good things about Gingher scissors. They cut through light and medium weight cloths like a hot knife going through butter. They operate smoothly and are well balanced. Further, with the dearth of scissor-sharpening options available these days, it is nice to know that Gingher will sharpen their scissors when that operation is necessary. I'm replacing all my scissors with Ginghers!

It cuts through multiple pieces of fabric cleaning all the way to the tip. It's a bit heavy, but I like the feel of the weight. Take good care of them (don't cut tape or wires), have them sharpened, and they should last forever. Don't forget the left handed version too!

These shears of very high quality and are extremely sharp. That said, for someone with man-sized hands (being a man myself), they're not very comfortable. The handle is relatively small and the force required to complete the last half of the cut is high. Combined together (the small opening and tight grip) made for sore hands. If I could loosen the action or increase the size of the grips, I'd be in love with them.
