This is far superior to using just a simple nail to hang something. First, the bracket holds the nail at a good angle so that you don't drive the nail in at a funny angle. Second, it only lets you drive the nail in so far, so you don't hammer too hard and drive the nail all the way in where you have to use a fingernail to get it out. Third, I think it distributes the pressure across the entire bracket so you have more support and the nail won't pull out of the wall as easily.

Slightly inferior to competitor's products where the customized nail fits snugly in a sleeve at the top of the hook and is easily removed by hand; readynail uses a small plastic block to keep the standard brass nail in place for shipping and hammering. That said, we have been using these given the combination of price and convenience offered on Amazon and have found them to function exactly as advertised and needed. Also, the tins that the 30 packs ship in are very convenient for keeping hooks of various sizes organized.

I will update this review should that change, but do not expect it to do so.

If you are looking to standardize your document frames (DAX #1826N3T) don't order through Amazon. You may receive them from Kentucky, which takes a mechanical engineer to calculate and align measurements between the two (2) v-shaped eyelets on the back of the frame, although the craftsmanship is of better quality than the frames from Nevada, which are thicker and put together with cuts resembling a rip saw, but they do have a single flat eyelet in the middle of the back of the frame, making for easier mounting. Easier mounting does not make the looks of frame easy on the eyes compared to the Kentucky version.

Amazon's Customer Service and several Customer Service supervisors were of no help in placing an order from either Kentucky or Nevada, which would guanantee the same style. Why are there 2 different styles of DAX #1826N3T, unless they are trying to get rid of one or the other, or both?

This has been a real nightmare dealing with Amazon and considering the number of nail holes in my wall, so if you are looking for conformity in certificate framing, it's a crap shoot for which one you will recieve and believe me hanging both togetther looks like an eye sore.

First off, you ARE NOT getting what's in the picture. I can guarantee that, nor are you getting what's in the product description. Thinking I was ordering a "Black base, Cherrywood color Top" and the "most popular Drafting height chair" I instead got a head-ache inducing gray-white top and a plastic, cushionless, hard-as-nails stool.

Someone definitely messed something up, obviously Amazon for posting the wrong product and possibly Martin Universal Design for sending me the wrong stuff, I'm not sure. Either way I have to wait longer to get what I need. I feel like Amazon has let me down, and I need to be more cautious about buying from them.

Martin Universal Design was fantastic for customer service, but I had to contact them over the phone since they never returned my email. They didn't blink an eye when I told them I got the tabletop I wasn't expecting and fixed it right away, but I didn't realize the chair was different until after. I may still get it exchanged.

Either way, I'm highly disappointed in Amazon. I suggest finding this on another site even if you have to pay a little more, at least you won't be surprised and have to wait a few extra weeks for the item you really want.

I am a seamstress with 40 years experience. I love this machine, it makes sewing so simple. You have the option of sewing with or without a foot pedal. Unlike many older machines, it actually does the built in stitches with ease and they look beautiful. It manages very thick utility sewing without trouble. This is a very feature loaded and complex machine, but if you read the manual, follow the tutorials on the cd or at Brother.com you will find it does any task really well. The thread supplied Brother's Pacesetter embroidery thread is especially shiny (also available100 Spools Polyester Embroidery Machine Thread). I have had this machine for 2 years, have had no problems, found it intimidating at first, and continue to find more things it can do. Brother also offers many designs that are easy to download, then connect your computer and embroider away. You can also get PE-DesignBrother PED-Basic Software for Downloading Embroidery Designs, which is really great embroidery software. A previous reviewer mentioned that she couldn't get sheer fabric to feed through, if the feed dog switch on the back isn't in the down position (for embroidery), then try an old trick, place a sheet of paper or stabilizer under the fabric, sew, then tear it away. I suspect the needle breakage was from trying to pull the fabric through when it wouldn't feed, the manual also mentions incorrect spool cap as a possible cause. This is a "smart" machine and is programmed to do many things that in the past were only skills experts had.

Not sure what the complaints are of course it's got a lot of plastic it's a portable. As to strength,well, I make teddy bears out of recycled fur coats. They're a way for people (like me) who would never wear or buy fur to save grandma's treasures. This machine worked well and seams are 4 layers: 2 of pelt/leather and 2 of muslin. And I tend to sew in 6-8 hour shifts (which caused problems for my old machine). I used the same machine to make a silk dress with tulle skirt for a teddy. Again, no problems whatsoever. Haven't used embroidery features yet, but even without, I'm very happy with this machine.

Many of you say you love this machine I did too until it seized up and I was told that it would cost me over $200 to repair. I was told the gears seized and this repair would not even be covered if it was still under warranty. I purchased the machine one year and two months ago. When I contacted Brother and requested a detail of what is covered and what is not I got the run around and no one could tell me exactly. They just repeated the verbiage in writing. When I ask for a diagram this was something unheard of. I just wanted to see what exactly was covered for 25 years. This request was not granted.

I bought this sewing machine after an extensive research and reading what other ppl commented on it. Quite a lot of people love this machine and had fairly good review of it. However, I returned this machine because the foot does not press down the fabric with enough pressure. For example, a jersey is thin and stretchy but this machine would not sew it correctly.

Since I'm a novice, I thought this difficulty coule be me and not the machine. So, I had a professional alteration personelle to use this and examine it for me. After she tried to sew couple different fabrics she said this machine is not worth any money. Most of the parts are made of plastic and it just won't do what it's meant to do. This doesn't have the power to pull in the fabric as you sew if there's a little seam where the foot has to sew through. And I'm not talking about any heavy fabric. A needle broke on the first time I had her try this.

Ultimately, it's up to you to decide if you want to give this a try as there are many others who like this. Or, you can just go get a different brand like me. I've moved onto either purchasing Janome or Viking.

Reviews of Blockx Watercolor Set, 12 Half Pans in Travel Size Case

Like many of us who work with watercolors, I couldn't resist buying yet more paints, even though I hardly need them, and trying a brand that's new to me. And I'm glad I did for I love these paints! Only time will tell how lightfast they are, but my first impression is that Blockx watercolors are on a par in terms of quality with my two favorite brands, Winsor & Newton and M. Graham.

I own a similarly sized set of Winsor & Newton half pans and the tins are almost but not quite identical, but the Blockx half pans seem moister and creamier from the get go than I remember the W&N being when I first got that set. (And I'm talking about top of the line W&N, not their Cotman budget brand.) Coverage is just as good as what I get with W&N and M. Graham, and all the colors lay down smooth (on Arches 140 lb. rough and cold-pressed watercolor paper).

After getting this set I decided it would be convenient to have all my W&N pans and Blockx pans in a single container, so I bought an empty KREMER PIGMENTS Watercolor Box and put them all in there, and when doing that I discovered that the Blockx half pans are slightly larger than the W&N half pans (as you can see in a photo I posted on the product page for the Kremer box).

I really like the Payne's Grey that's included in this set, as that color has for some reason been a favorite watercolor color of mine since I was in my late teens over 40 years ago (and this is the first time I've used anything other than W&N Payne's Grey from tubes). I wish expensive watercolor pan sets didn't include Ivory Black, which is included with this set as well as my W&N set, because it's not a color I use much and I suspect many watercolorists don't use black all that much. But comparing the Blockx Ivory Black with the Ivory Black half pan in my older W&N set, I find the Blockx Ivory Black creamier and richer looking. (And so I put the Blockx Ivory Black in my Kremer box and left the W&N black out, which gave me room to put a full pan from another, budget brand set.)

Blockx has a nice website that's well worth visiting. Otherwise it can be difficult to find reviews of their colors, though there is a long review at the wonderful, incredibly information packed watercolor section of handprint dot com. (To find the review of Blockx watecolors there, go to handprint dot com, click on the color wheel icon on the upper right, which takes you to the watercolor section, then click on paints, then watercolor brands, and finally Blockx.) The review, written in 2008, is not entirely positive (and it led to an exchange of emails between the reviewer and Jacques Blockx which are documented at handprint), but nothing in it discouraged me from wanting to try Blockx watercolors, and I am very glad that I purchased this set.

I hope to add some Blockx tube colors to my collection eventually.

I have tried several grey marker sets to do tonal sketching. These markers are smooth and rich. The grey gradient is pretty good, except for the darker greys...it seems there is little variation. The only problem is these greys bleed through, so use an under-surface when marking. They were worth every penny.

This is a beautiful set of watercolors. I have never worked with the travel/water-in-the-brush sets before so was very curious about this. I LOVE it. It doesn't leak and you can paint for quite a while on one load. I purchased some two ounce dripper bottles to toss in my bag for more water when needed. The paints are strong colors and have done a beautiful job on my moleskine and regular watercolor papers. There is even room for a folded piece of paper towel under the lid when closed so everything is there for you when you feel the whim to paint. The brush cleans well with a little squeeze and a rub on the paper towel. I rate it five stars for its quality as well as how it's designed. I wouldn't change a thing. Happy creating!

These are very thin and flimsy like thick wire at best. Previously ones I bought this size at our local hardware were thick and very hard to pry open. But regretably those solidly built ones this size are impossible to find in stores any more. These will maybe do, but they are very easy to pry open, and since I use them to hang my dogs tags it is possible that it may get caught on something and easily pulled open or separated, and create a hazard for my dogs.

Considering that, I am not sure at this point what I am going to do with them.

Got mine from Doorbusters Direct and they are unusable for my business. These are the kind of flimsy keyrings that get attached to your keys at car repair places and by valets. Easily bent with your fingers. Wouldn't put anything I didn't want to lose on them. Mine went straight from the packaging to the trash.

I have purchased three of these 3-packs, and I am about to place another order. I have been using them for about a year for everything from organizing my quilt plans, calendar journaling to help with Project Life, and more recently for sketch notes during church conferences. I love that I can fit April Conference and October Conference together in the same journal with ample room for each speaker. The book is sturdy but lightweight, and the off-white pages have a grid light enough that I can use a pencil if I really wanted to (unlike the grid composition journals with their bright blue grid lines). I have tested a lot of pens on this paper. Ballpoint pens are perfect, but I haven't had any problems with Gelly Roll by Sakura, and Micron is great with all the different widths and colors. I have also used scrapbook alphabet stickers, scrapbook paper, and washi tape to decorate some of the inner pages.

Bottom line: I really love these journals. They are great for my uses, and I will continue to use them for as long as I can buy them.

I am a big fan of Moleskine.

These notebooks are excellent. They are thin enough that you can tuck them into a book and you won't even notice you have it.

The paper holds up to any type of ink.

Just be warned about Moleskine's sizing. X-Large is a standard size composition type book. It is not a legal page size or something I would consider x-large. So if you want a standard 8 1/2 by 11 size notebook, this is it. ( not sure if it is exactly 8 1/2 by 11 ).

Apparently Large in Moleskine's vocabulary is a smaller notebook that standard US sizes.

There is a back pocket to hold a few papers.. And the last 10 pages or so are perferated so you can take them out without tearing up the binding.

I use these for class and reading notes in my doctoral program, and love the feel and smoothness of the pages. They're a good size, don't add a ton of bulk to my bag, and have a few tear-out pages, which are convenient for last minute to-dos or scrap paper. I have to admit, I'm a bit of a nut for organization, so I really appreciate the squared version of these journals.

My one complaint is that the paper tends to bleed through with most gel pens (hence the four stars).

If you haven't given these notebooks a shot yet, they're worth the extra money. Invest in something that will last and you'll enjoy.

I bought all the Ginghers on Amazon, and all the Kais from their web site (Amazon doesn't sell them). I evaluated them by cutting eight 4" long layered sheets of lightweight cotton fabric at once. My criteria were:

smoothness of cutting

was the edge straight, or did it wave?

comfort of scissors (hand position, weight, tightness of grip)

how often did I have to open the scissors to cut the 4" fabric?

With all 8" shears I had to open them too often, resulting in more effort needed to get a straight cut. With all 12" shears I had to open them too wide, which was difficult even with my very large (size 10+) hands. I thus settled on a 10" pair.

The Ginghers are all excellent -better than any of those colored-handle shears I've tried. They are rumored to last 25 years, and they're not that expensive ($25). Of those, the tailoring shears were ever-so-slightly smoother than the dressmaker shears. Not sure why.

But the Kai 7000 series were simply better. They're smoother, lighter-weight, sharper, nicer engineering, and they offer a $14 sharpening service. Wow. Them's be some sharp scissors. Holy cow. Did the "let's gently run my thumb perpedicular to this blade" test and a minute later realized I was bleeding... Didn't even feel it. Must also say the customer service was top-notch. They sent me the 3 pair I wanted to test in advance, and didn't charge my card till I picked the one I liked best.

Yes, they're $70. But Gingher's 10" pair are $50, too. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, I'd get the "Gingher G-8T KE Tailors Shears, 8-Inch" ($25). If you're looking for the best fabric shears period, I'd get the Kai 7000 series (the 10" ones for me).

Update (01/09/2013): A fellow reviewer pointed out to me that Amazon now carries some of the Kai shears. I have added links above to those they carry at this time. And I still recommend looking at the manufacturer's web site. They offered me super service -really above and beyond.

I've been given a pair of Gingher shears as a bridal shower gift (I made my own wedding dress) and they have been my favorites throughout the last 17 years. They are sharp right to the tips, an essential feature of the shears needed for trimming seams.

I purchased a second pair so that I'd have one to use while my originals went back to the Gingher factory for sharpening (a service they provide for a mere $7.50). I hope in time to have all Gingher shears in my sewing room!

Further, with the dearth of scissor-sharpening options available these days, it is nice to know that Gingher will sharpen their scissors when that operation is necessary. I'm replacing all my scissors with Ginghers!

It cuts through multiple pieces of fabric cleaning all the way to the tip. It's a bit heavy, but I like the feel of the weight. Take good care of them (don't cut tape or wires), have them sharpened, and they should last forever. Don't forget the left handed version too!

These shears of very high quality and are extremely sharp. That said, for someone with man-sized hands (being a man myself), they're not very comfortable. The handle is relatively small and the force required to complete the last half of the cut is high. Combined together (the small opening and tight grip) made for sore hands. If I could loosen the action or increase the size of the grips, I'd be in love with them.

This paint by number is very large and I was a little intimidated by that when I received it. However, it went rather fast, once I started. The color choices by whoever made the pattern blend well to make a startlingly realistic image of the birds and branches, as they are just touched by the morning sun.

I like Dimensions paint by number kits. The numbers on the "canvas" are printed lightly enough that they do not show through the paint. The detail is subtle enough to give the image more of a "real" look, instead of some rather flat 2-dimensional paint by number images I have seen.

Most impressively, the customer service is fast and good. There were a couple of paints that had not shipped well. I sent them back for replacement and the replacements came promptly. They even supplied me with extra! I recommend this project to anyone who likes paint by number kits (and chickadees.)

These are nice, smooth bamboo needles. Good tip. Good finish. All for a decent price.

However... they have a plastic tube instead of a cable. This initially seemed like an improvement the tube was nice and flexible. It was also fatter and held the stitches in a nice, uniform manner.

The flaw comes on the non-knitting end of the needle; it's seated inside the tube (normally the cable is secured inside the end of the needle). The non-knitting end of the needle takes a lot of pressure and flexing. The bamboo portion inside the tube has cut through the tube and the tube has almost detached from the needle.

The entire package only cost approximately $30 with shipping (at this time) while ordering bamboo needles individually could cost up to $10 each. I've been using these needles to knit a huge multicolored blanket and so far they've held up and worked well for me.

The packages are even resealable so you don't need to worry about all the needles getting tangled up together.

At first, I was excited about these because I thought I could do lots of circular knitting with this wide range of needle sizes and at such a great price. However, the cord on these needles is the problem. It's bigger than any other cord I've seen on circular knitting needles, and that's a huge problem on the smaller sized needles. I tried to do a pair of socks using the magic loop method with the size 4 needle and my yarn couldn't move off of the needle and onto the cord because the cord is bigger than the needle. Also, the cord is some kind of plastic that has a lot of "grip" and "stick." The stitches do not slide well on it. Overall, these were a huge waste of money. Save your money and get a good name brand set of circulars. See what they sell in your local craft shop. Those needles will be the inexpensive way to get something that actually works. Personally, I like the Clover ones or the Skacel Addi Turbos for socks.
