The quality of the material is great! These are very sturdy, and fits most earring posts. This is labeled as Anchor floss but it is manufactured in India and the colors are a not an exact match to the Anchor floss manufactured in Germany and distributed in American needlework stores. The quality is nice so if exact match isn't an issue for you, this is a great buy.

I ordered two sets of this Anchor Collection because I needed some stash builders for wool applique work. I admit to being a long term DMC six-stand customer, but I ordered this collection because I burn through a skien of thread in no time with the wool work. When doing thread painting embroidery I turn to the DMC threads for washability and general thread quality, but so far I have had no issues with the quality of this thread collection. The color options are very good, ranging from primary colors to pastels and tints. I also really appreciate that the skiens are neat and easy to wind, as opposed to the skiens which tend to be tangled messes in the bins in the needlework stores.

If you are looking for a nice color collection at a very good price then I would recommend this collection as I do not believe you can go wrong. While they are not DMC, they are a very close second!

I am delighted with this embroidery floss. It makes even the satin stitch live up to the name. I've used it to embroider baby bibs, blankets, and even tiny shirts and it washes very well. I usually use and still like DMC floss because it is so available and I do like it. But a friend recommended this because she thinks it has a bit more sheen and silken feel. Because hand embroidery is a personal investment, I think this thread is worth the extra effort and tiny extra expense to obtain.

I bought this to be able do repairs on my electric guitars and basses, my wife's jewelry, and various electronics. For those tasks, it is a decent magnifier. I'll keep this review very simple by just listing the pros and cons.

PROS:

* Light weight. It's all plastic; I have chronic neck problems and this doesn't feel heavy or bother my neck at all.

* 2 different magnification levels. I find it easy to swich between magnification lenses.

* Adjustable head band. Velcro fastener on the back allows for easy fit and adjustment for head size.

CONS:

* The lenses are acrylic (like plastic) so they are EASILY scratched! If you don't store these carefully, you'll end up just throwing them away since the lenses will quickly become too scratched to use.

* Magnification is not very high. These have approximately 2x and 3x lenses. A typical handheld magnifying glass is 2x or 3x and a jewelry loupe is typically 10x (to give you a comparison). I would have liked to see this with something like a 2x and a 5x. In other words, the 2nd more powerful lense on this unit is not very powerful at all and only offers a slight magnification over the 1st lense.

* Field of view on this is terrible! When switched to the 2nd lense (3x) I literally had to put the lense, i.e. my face, only 1 to 2 INCHES away from the item I was viewing. I felt like I was nearly touching it with my face! Not a problem when you're looking at jewelry; a big deal when your soldering electronics. I had to put my face VERY CLOSE to my solder work and consequently got a face full of lead smoke. Not to mention, one false move and I could have touch the skin on my face with the soldering iron. If you are not literally a couple of inches or less from your subject matter, the 3x lense is blurry and unusable. When using the 2x lense, you need to keep around 3 to 4 inches to it or it will be blurry. Since these are cheap acrylic lenses, there isn't any room for error--there is no adjustment or correction with these lenses. Basically, you have to be EXACTLY in the right spot to see your subject matter with this magnifier; other wise, it will blur.

* It comes in a carboard box only. This magnifier--with its fragile, acrlyic lenses--did NOT come with a storage bag or box. I store mine by wrapping them in a cotton washcloth and keeping them in the box. Without a silk or satin storage bag, the risk of the lenses getting scratched is pretty high. In my opinion, this should have come with a storage bag or container to protect the lenses.

In summary: Yes, I would recommend this to anyone who does small hobby work that doesn't require soldering or anything that generates smoke or heat (e.g. hot gluing, wood burning, etc). There are better, more expensive units out there for the pros but if you're on a budget or you are just a hobbiest, this one should be fine. If you have the money to spare, there are better magnifying hoods on the market.

The extra magnification allowed me to lift the rest of the key out by using the sharp points of sewing needles. Until I put the magnifier on I was having difficulty seeing what I was doing. It was not a huge amount of magnification, but it was definitely enough to get the job done.

I've tried several different magnifiers, this one is my favorite. The lenses are clear and give a good field of view without a lot of chromatic aberration. I really like the extra flip down lenses for additional magnification, this is great for close up work.

It is mostly plastic so I don't know how well it will hold up, but at $20 I wasn't expecting it to be too robust. Given the price I am very pleased.

I am going to order a second one so I can have one at home and one at work.

I use these markers for coloring and stamping hand-carved rubber stamps. I bought this set for the 2 colors of orange it includes. I have used this brand of markers for several years for this purpose, carrying them around in a backpack and leaving them in hot cars many times. They have continued to work really well, with no drying out. I would absolutely recommend them for rubber stamping.

I use Progresso color sticks as well as a variety of others in my art. They have vibrant color and they're not too 'greasy' so its fairly easy using blending 'ink' and torchons provided you do so gently. I started on a new piece the day these arrived . They're woodless so expect them to break if you're not carefull but I usually break them purposefully then take the broken pieces and use them in pencil extenders.It allows me to use them more confidently since im not worried about them breaking inadvertently and I still am able to sue just about ALL of the pencil piece up. My question is why are these sets of 48 not readily available from a variety of sources? I got my set from CzechArtSupplies through Amazon but there are no other vendors selling them...at all! Whats with that? Ive no problems dealing with CzechArtSupplies BTW and will purchase from them again confidently but youd think there would be other sellers,even local art stores would be carrying them.

Whatever , The product is good and worth getting your hands on....but you better act soon, Theres no telling how many more sets CzechArtSupplies has and I just may grab them for myself....nothing like stockpiling supplies. :)

Cheap Sharpie Calligraphic Chisel Tip Water Based Markers, 5 Colored

These are not professional quality markers but they work well enough and are a great value. After several uses the tip will probably start to round off some but you can expect that with any felt tip style marker. The colors do look great and wont bleed through most paper which is a big plus. I use them with Rhodia Graph paper and they are quite beautiful. If you want something that is functionable, and affordable then be sure to purchase.

Years ago (45 or so) I did a lot of calligraphy, but in the interim, I have pursued new hobbies and let my cherished calligraphy pens languish unused. Who knew that the manufacturer of my pens would vanish, the internal parts would freeze up or rot out and I would have to go seeking new pens when a friend suggested I take a calligraphy course with her. I started out with a couple of inexpensive fountain pen styles, not wanting to carry my old Speedball dip pens and an ink bottle with me to class and not wanting to put a lot of money into returning to a hobby that my more mature hands might not enjoy (carpal tunnel). But it's no fun working with bad equipment. A local art supply store had the finer 1.1 Rotring pen and I found it to be a smooth writing, fun to use pen. Local pursuit of the wider nibs, however, proved fruitless and then I found this set on Amazon. I would have given them 5 stars, but I like to post the cover on the pen and I found it impossible with the Rotring pens. I'll get over it. The plastic box they come in has little grooves for each nib and cover and you can store the pen with its nib and cover on. I found there was space for a ruler and a 4H pencil for drawing lines under the plastic, so I can carry everything I need for class with me in the one case. The nibs are smooth writing, the ink is very black, but not waterproof, so I may look into a converter and bottled ink. Meantime I'm enjoying my calligraphy class and my carpal tunnel only acts up if I write too long; ice helps.

Used on calligraphy practice "Writer" paper and the ink flooded the paper emptying the cartridge in less then a paragraph. I have never had this happen even with Osmiroid or Sheaffer or any of the lesser quality calligraphy fountain pens, Pentel etc. I don't understand how this product receives positive reviews when it ruins your work so quickly and thoroughly.
