The first thing that you should know if you are contemplating a purchase of this item is that it is NOT a paint by number kit. Fortunately, I had purchased the kit for a refresher in mixing oil colors, and so the drawing on canvas was acceptable for my use. I did miss having a large colored drawing sufficient to allow me to color match easily, and the drawing suffered somewhat because of it, but I used a downloaded picture that sufficed to a degree.

I found the product acceptable, I just either didn't investigate the description sufficiently, or was misled by the description. Anyway, doesn't matter to me now, and this is a heads up for you.

This painting is very easy to do and turns out beautifully. I made a few changes in it and that also is easy to do. I painted it twice...so far. Once with the sun setting and once without. Both look amazing. I have had many compliments on them. There was more than enough paint and I have a lot left over. I used my own brushes tho as I didn't care for the ones included. That is a personal taste. All in all, the only complaint I have is that it didn't come in a larger size.

I liked this but it was my first and didnt turn out exactly as i wanted. Id recommend this for someone who wants to dive in the artistic but not be too dedicated.

UPDATE! 2013

I went back to it and tried to do it over again and found that I just didnt like this kind of paint set. It comes as a grey background and you have to paint over it to give it color. I have found that a regular paint-by-number is much more fun and turns out a lot nicer. I still do not like this kind of painting.

It may just be my eye, or that I have never painted this kind of kit before, but I was totally unsatisfied with the results. The finished painting didn't look natural or even close to natural, the colors were off. The instructions weren't exactly understandable, so I don't know where I went wrong. I did keep the plastic tray and will use it when mixing colors for other kits.

This was not what I expected. I didn't read the description well enough. It's a good idea, but I was looking for paint by number.
