I gifted this to a tween girl, age 11, who enjoys drawing and crafts. She played with it a full 2 hours on Christmas morning. It was the first gift she played with and she created 3 lovely rooms: a dream bedroom, a music room and a room for her brother. It was obviously her favorite gift. Lots of youth flavored designs and fun are included. You will find a variety of lamps, instuments, beds, rugs, windows, funky sofas and chairs, curtains and lots of room to use your imagination in your designs. Zero learning curve for her; her first drawings were a great success. This set requires 3 AA batteries to run the light tablet which is nice and bright and good for tracing all sorts of things. You could use normal printer paper to draw on. The pencils in the set are very basic. If you have the money to spare, I suggest a nice set of colored pencils and a good sharpener to go along with this set.Lots of colors will create more variety in designs and they can pattern bedspreads and the walls. This is just the perfect toy for those girls who have outgrown most toys! Worth the money and fine motor skills educational. Very pleased!

I found this after I purchased their spiral version with stencils. I have always loved interior design and have looked for a long time for something artistic and easy, and most importantly youthful to enjoy. I have an art degree, and even studied some interior design in college, yet to sadly find out at the time it wasn't fully credited at that time. That kinda put my dream on hold. Yet not sure I want to make it a career anymore due to the fact not many with this economy are hiring interior decorators or designers.

I found their stencil version kinda overwhelming or hard to figure out where to start so to speak. It's probably because I'm an adult. I'm sure a kid would pick it up and start off right where they needed to. I still kept looking for options of games or programs are artistic ways to express my inner decorator and designer, yet easy. I found this and absolutely was sold on the fact it was with a light. I wish it was AC adaptor but beggers can't be choosers. :) Their inlays make it so much easier to see your options for your room then their stencils. It's basically the same concept and designs, just in a different format. I still love both and sometimes even intertwine the two. However, I think this one may be my fav of all the interior design kits in this genre.

My 10 year old daughter loves to be creative so when I saw this interior design set on Amazon I knew she'd love it. It's such a great way for her to use her imagination and design her dream rooms. I gave four stars because I don't really care for the pencils/crayons that come with the set. I would recommend purchasing a nice set of colored pencils.
