I've been quilling ever since my Grandmother taught me 30 years ago. Back then, I used a draftsman's "circle" template that my uncle glued to a cardboard backing. It worked great for a long time...only requiring occasional replacement of the cardboard.
It wasn't until a few years ago I realized the fancy "quilling boards" were no longer "too expensive" for this cheap crafter. I bought one of these boards...and the quill tool...and think it's a fantastic way to start quilling. Glue doesn't stick easily to the foam stuff...so I've dispensed with using waxed paper to back the rear of the board for assembly. And, it doesn't warp like my cork board from "other quilling board store" has. And the flared base on the tool makes the kit completely worth it. I learned rolling my paper on round toothpicks. The quilling tool is HIGH TECH baby! And the flared base is nice for paper flower making.
NO. It's not really a three piece set...unless you count the bi-lingual instructions included as a "piece." What it is...is an inexpensive quilling board. I recently bought four more of them for a class I'm teaching...and don't have to feel bad if one of my new student's kills one. Highly recommended.

This little kit is a good start for learning the art of Paper Quilling. The gauge helps keeps uniformity in the size of the quills you make. The quilling instrument is easy to use. Good product for a small investment.

I wasn't very impressed w/the board. The material that you put the pins in to hold the piece doesn't seem like it will last after several uses. The culring tool came in handy though. I am not sure what the 3rd tool was though since I only got the board & curling tool.

This board is completely useless. The indentions where you are supposed to place your coiled paper strips are so shallow that they cannot prevent the coils from unraveling.

I purchased this board to make my quilled pieces more uniform in size, and that's what it does. I'm glad I bought it have had no issues so far, LOVE that I can stick my pins in the board, and dont' have to use another board for this. The little tool was unexpected (guess I didn't read the description when I purchased) but is awesome quality -and I didn't realize I'd need a third tool, but apparently I do as my son has now taken to quilling with my daughter and I.
