This is a great product if you are expecting a Melt & Pour style kit. It is nicely packed with everything you need. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the product description and was expecting an actaul soap making kit, to the likes of sodium hydroxide,vegetable fats, oils,etc., not Melt & Pour.

This is a great product! It was delivered promptly and was really a pleasure to use. I appreciated the clear directions, the simplicity, and the basic quality items they provided. If you want to make a gift for a close friend or family member, or you just want to make some soap for yourself, this is really the thing to buy!!!

I recommend adding dried lavendar, cloves (cause they're good for your skin), some dried tea leaves or dried lemon grass.

Pros: It is fairly easy to use and to follow the instructions. I liked that it came with cocoa butter and the different molds.

Cons: The page said it had all natural ingredients. However, it comes with colorants and fragrances that are not natural. The blocks of glycerin are hard to break. It would be much easier if they would come in smaller pieces.

Bottom line: You can make your own soap just by just buying glycerin and mixing it together with the ingredients that you want at a fraction of the cost of this kit.

My wife and I own a small Bed & Breakfast and wanted to start making our own soaps for guests. I researched soap making and quickly determined that "melt and pour" was the way to go, as from scratch was far too involved for me. We ordered this kit and within minutes of receiving it, I had made my first batch of soap. Everything you need to make a half dozen or so large soap bars is here. Once you get going with this kit, you will most likely want to start buying your supplies individually, that way you can select your preferred scents, colors, molds, etc.. My experience is that I did not like the glycerin soap base included in this set. For my second batch, I ordered a goats milk base. Bottom line: our guests LOVE the custom soaps! It's a fun and affordable way to add that extra touch to our room. If you search, you will find tons of scents, molds and soap making supplies to create just what you're looking for.
