My wife originally bought the Perfect Primaries Sketch Marker 6/Pkg Copic Marker SKST6-PERF set and was extremely happy with it because of its amazing color blending. She was so excited that she ran out and bought this set. Unfortunately, she was very disappointed. While the markers in this set are equally good, they are not paired together well which does not allow for proper blending. She did some research and found that to get these markers to blend well, each color number needs to be within 2-3 of each other. The numbers on the Primaries set were very close which resulted in amazing blending. In this set, that is not the case. The Purple markers in this set are V04 and V09 which are 5 numbers apart and result in very harsh lines between colors. The Green markers are G02 and G09, even farther apart with 7 numbers in between. These colors do not blend together well at all leaving clearly visible lines. It seems like this set was not put together properly according to the instructions saying that colors need to be a lot closer together to blend properly. The markers are great, but the set together is very disappointing.

I am an interior design illustration instructor and have used just about every marker manufactured in the past 25 years, including Chartpak AD, Sanford Prismacolor (formerly Berol), Letraset, Design Markers, etc. When Copic came out with these markers I was keen to invest in the next best thing, so to speak. On the pro-side they are easy to handle, have a few width sizes to choose from, a wide variety of hues, refillable cartridges, and the ability to transfer an ordinary marker into an airbrush tool (have not yet tried this attachment yet). On the con side the markers are extremely expensive and last only a fraction of the time of other brands before they dry out. I live in an arid climate, so I understand the necessity of keeping the markers in a plastic bag and storing them horizontally. This did not help much. I have Chartpak markers that are 8 years old, and dried out Copic markers that are 6 months old. At $5 a piece they are hardly worth the fuss. Stick to Chartpak. They also have about a hundred hues to choose from, a variety of tip types, and they last so much longer. Chartpak just takes a little more patience to get the hang of using, but well worth the effort.
