You can create very interesting effects in your art pieces by adding rust. I have used casting material to form pieces such as a bust for a plaster form of when a friend was pregnant...her entire front was coated in saran wrap in some parts then Vaseline, then the plaster was applied from above the chest to below the belly. Once dried, we peeled it off. This made a permanent memento of this moment for an art piece she still has hung in her bedroom. I then coated the whole piece in copper and gold leaf. After that, I added the instant rust in some areas.
However, I have also brushed liquid copper onto art pieces and forms and then used this for effect. I have even done it on a canvas and under encaustic wax.
