These make great bottom layers for cards. The loopy design is very cheerful looking.

I do want to say that there is a trick to getting the paper out of the dies when they're brand new. Sometimes, with intricate dies, the paper seems to get tightly embedded in the die and getting it out can be a bit dicey if you try to pull it out the wrong way.

Place a piece of kitchen wax paper on the die before you place the paper on top. This will help it slip out easily. I have found that after I have done this once or twice with the same die, the wax stays in there enough to make it easy for future cuttings to just pop out and I don't need to use the wax paper anymore.

Below are steps if you don't have wax paper or are still having trouble getting the paper out. (Spellbinders said it's best not to use paper heavier than 65 pounds for best results).

After running the die a few times in the pressing machine (I use Cuttlebug), when it comes time to loosen the paper out of the die, use your thumbs in a kneading motion on the part of the paper where it meets the inside edge of the metal die/frame. Just go all along the inside of the frame and slowly press/knead the paper.

As you do this, it softens and stretches the paper (like fabric) ever so slightly and helps lift the drum-tight paper out of the die.

After several rounds of doing this, you will feel the paper loosen and lift away from the die all by itself!

It will come out cleanly and perfectly!

Just be patient. Sometimes it'll release it in 4-5 go arounds, sometimes it'll need a few more times than that, depending on the paper or cardstock.

I've found you can leave the poke holes for last, or do them first, it doesn't make much of a difference. I've done them both ways.

It's a very pretty die and I have no regrets buying it!

Nearly all Spellbinder dies stick a little to a lot, causing your cardstock to tear when removing it from the die.. The more complex the cuts, the greater the sticking problem. This is easily solved by putting a layer of waxed paper over the die before placing the cardstock. If you are using any die cutter other than theirs, you may need to also add a shim. Another hint is to run the die through several times, at different angles to make sure each part of the die is in the center of your machine.

Love these, because there are so many sizes. I use them all the time.

I have had craft days with family and they all like them.

Honest reviews on Spellbinders Nestabilities Decorative Elements Dies, Lattice

chose this rating because not entirely happy with item. Does not cut cleanly, even using a purchased metal plate, which is specifically designed for this kind of situation. However, I will persist, hoping to find a better solution. I have other sets of Spellbinders, which do not present this problem.
