I just finished my first really large cross-stitch project, using these bars, and they functioned flawlessly with my roller set. I am so very glad I bought them and have them to use for years to come!
One caveat -they are large enough that they make the resulting lap frame unwieldy to handle, and I had to manhandle it around on my lap quite a bit, moving it from the right to the left, and turn it and the pattern upside down from time to time to work, but this is a minor problem, completely work-with-able. The fact remains that I could not have worked the large project I just completed without such long bars. It was completely worth the creative positioning.
One suggestion:
I work in a papasan, and I found that putting bean bag pillows behind my elbows to prop my arms up and forward took a lot of the strain off my shoulders, and a pillow behind my head took almost all the strain off my neck. I used to stitch in a regular chair, and I was in agony during most of my stitching, and that is now almost all gone.

When I looked for 30" scroll rods for a large wall-project, I was worried that the rods would be too long to stay firm in the frame. These rods have turned out to be as excellent as the smaller rods by this same brand. I also purchased oak frame extenders of the same brand. These two sturdy products have solved my problem. I highly recommend both. I also use a 24" scroll rod "mitten" to protect the fabric on the frame.
