If you want to do calligraphy, this is a good set. It comes with only 3 nibs and they are 3 calligraphy nibs, however. I purchased an additional set which had all of the nibs I wanted. So, if you can do with only 3 calligraphy nibs, it's fine. The pen is the traditional black wooden pen, and the ink is Speedball Super Black, which is fine with me.

I'm glad I bought the package, it's worth it, but I did know I'd be buying additional nibs.

This product is for someone who already has practice and skills in calligraphy writing. The nibs are very good and give clean strokes and the ink can handle any kind of paper that you use without bleeding. The 3 nibs, the holder and the ink = you could not get it for a better price.

Best Deals for Speedball Calligraphy Set

This calligraphy set is great for anyone new to the art of calligraphy

The set includes 1 bottle of permanent black ink, 1 pen holder and 3 nibs

The pen itself is easy to assenble but as far as directions go,

you'll need to buy a seperate book that teaches you what to do

over all I like it for the price,

good for anyone who's never done calligraphy before

Honest reviews on Speedball Calligraphy Set

It works, but it is nearly impossible to use and doesn't come with directions. The ink doesn't come up so don't spill it on anything. Also, the ink always sinks through even the thickest pages, and smears everywhere.

I fell in love with this particular brand of paint about a year ago and simply will not purchase any other acrylic paint, other than some that are in the tube form. It's too bad that they do not make the Ceramcoat in tube form because the tubes are so much easier in terms of transporting, storing, etc. This brand is super creamy and it covers very well. If you have not tried Ceramcoat, then you must give it a shot.

I love these paintings! Not only are the painting good but the customer service from this seller is as well. When I received this painting in the mail a few of the paints had opened up in shipping. I contacted the seller and not only did the get back to me within hours, they sent me all new paint. Highly recommend for someone who likes to paint because it is very detailed but it looks amazing.

The colors are NOT what you see in the catalog. The colors are brighter and when finished look like dark pastel colors. The black and grey shaded areas are light blues, dark blues, light greens, dark greens and different shades of brown are what you get. The numbers are very hard to hide. The paint pallets were dry and when I tried to add water the clumps of paint would not smooth out. The kit was a frame included kit, but could not get frame because wood could not travel with kit into the USA from china due to wood embargo. So I think that the kit should have been cheaper instead of full price. I have to spend more money to frame it. I really liked the catalog of paintings but am afraid that next kit would be much of the same. Too bad. :0(

I purchased the Fiskars Everywhere Punch Starter Kit and another shaped cartridge. I bought them thinking I can punch a SHAPE. When I assembled this I was getting 3 holes in the shape that was cut. I swore I HAD to be doing something wrong. I checked YouTube for an instructional video. WOW! The video shows the product assembled as I did, and then says 'after you punch your shape, just throw it away!!"....I wanted a shape, not just a window. Now in my mind, I am thinking that any punches out there WILL make a window and retain the integrity of the shape. I bought Fiskars because of it's name and lifetime guarantee. Maybe on the packaging they should state that it makes WINDOWS ONLY and the paper shape cannot be used. Another money maker, that's for sure, and I feel that this product insults the intelligence of anyone who buys it, because WHO would buy this product KNOWING that it will only make a window and you cannot keep the shape! Shame on FISKARS!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Boy, do I wish I had watched the video more carefully before I bought this kit. To make things worse, I first bought another shape of Fiskars "everywhere punch" before I learned that you need this starter kit to cut ANY shape. Now I am stuck with two of these miserable punches, which they will not allow me to return. Details: neither punch produces a usable shaped embellishment. They ONLY produce holes of that shape, and only do a semi-accurate job of guiding you to the spot where you want the hole. If you want the hole close to the edge of your paper (or to another hole), the cut is raggedy and uneven and impossible to overlay to correct it with a second effort. The three-holed magnets poke a messy, lumpy trio of holes in your punched shape so you can't even cover the cut product with another paper shape or embellishment in order to use it. What a waste of paper! Plus you get "shavings" from these 3 holes all over your worktable and clothes. Crafters are better off buying hand-held punches or even using a pencil and Exacto knife to get the shaped holes where they want them. I have other Fiskars tools that I love, but they really need to dump this fiasco from their line and go back to the drawing board.

Best Deals for Fiskars Everywhere Punch Window System Starter Kit

So this system is poorly designed. It is also poorly packaged and misleading. I spent $50 getting the starter kit and the round and scalloped refills, thinking I was getting a punch that I could use to cut shapes to use. However, this system basically just cuts holes in your paper. The shape that is punched out must be DISCARDED because it leaves 3 holes in the shape. Seems pretty useless to me.

Each of the oval metal dies in this collection has a piece of plastic stretched across its interior. At first, I wondered what the plastic was for, but it does make it easier to stack two ovals together and run them through the die machine together (I use the Sizzix Big Shot) in order to create frames (see customer image for a greeting card that uses a frame).

You can also use the individual dies to cut solid ovals or oval windows in the body of your card.

I am a beginner. I was practicing a bit of crochet with a Susan Bates crochet hooks before this item came. The dvd is a great learning tool, but I recommend getting the Susan Bates crochet hook to learn instead of the one that came with this package. I found that the thin 4 mm crochet hook that came with the dvd is too thin for the yarn that came with it. It's either that or the yarn is not that great since practicing on it, the hook would not pick up the yarn accurately but cuts through the middle of the yarn string itself. I would think that would frustrate a new beginner trying to yarn over and bring to the front a full yarn string, but instead pull only half of it (in the middle of the yarn string). Have fun learning to crochet with this dvd, but I recommend just buying the DVD only that they do sell and get the Susan Bates crochet needle and yarn separately. Remember that certain yarns label certain crochet needle sizes. I looked at the yarn again and it is definitely weak yarn.

The hook in the package was plastic and size was hard to see. It was hard to work with the yarn included.

This package is actually very cute, with 6 valentine card appropriate colors and the mini heart size is just perfect for cute embellishment. The red, purple and white are perfect. However the tourmaline, kunzite, and coral pink are not so because they have tiny red specks/stains on the surface. It looks like the colors weren't mixed well before being transferred to the sheets. It will be a non issue for some but I expect high standard from this line of product.

Fiskars's stamps are really nice! I love that you can see the image of the stamp on the top side of the stamp. I made Halloween cards and they turned out great. The stamps work awesome with the Fiskars's stamp blocks. My girls were helping me with puting the stamps on the blocks and they are easy to take off and reapply to the blocks. The images of the stamps are crisp and hands down the best stamps I have ever used!!!!

This is, by far, the best stamp set I have ever owned. I added some images so you can see what the stamps actually look like. These stamps really combine the best parts of traditional wood mounted rubber stamps and the new acrylic stamps. These act like an acrylic stamp because they are thin and are designed to work with acrylic blocks. Yet, they are rubber stamps with a white front so you can clearly see what your image is (that can sometimes be hard to see on acrylic stamps). Enough with the technical aspects about these, let's talk about the design. I love that this set covers all the main holidays, perfect for card-making. I also think the styling of the design is very cute and contemporary. I am a HUGE fan of these!!!!

PAASCHE MILLENNIUM AIRBRUSH SET w/Quiet AIR COMPRESSOR
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I love this set. I bought it to paint my miniature wargaming models. Never used an airbrush before. Never even seen one up close. I unboxed and assembled everything without too much trouble. There are no instructions for that so you have to be a bit mechanically inclined to succeed. I mixed up some paint and base coated my first model within an hour. My only problem was that the thing was blasting out way too much paint for my little job. Well, I did some searching on the internet and found out I was running it at 40 psi and should have had it dialed back to 20 psi. I cut back the pressure and it's much more controllable.

Unfortunately I also found out in my research that for really fine work like I plan to do I need a gravity feed brush, whereas this is a bottom (siphon) feed. I found out siphon feed brushes need 15 to 20 psi to work, while gravity feed brushes run fine at 8 to 15 psi. The higher the pressure the more paint the thing throws out so detail work requires the lowest pressure you can work at.

Oh well. I still love this brush. I used to prime paint my miniatures with cans of spray paint. The results were often very bad runs, streaks, globs, just awful. With this airbrush I was able to put a perfectly even, very thin prime coat on my miniature in just a couple minutes. The best job of priming I've ever done! And that was with zero experience and working at double the pressure I should've been at.

I have a bunch models that need priming. Can't wait to get started!

Oh! And I ordered a nice gravity feed brush for the detail work. Once you have the basic setup you can just order new brushes and plug them in. This is a great starter package.

There are colored pencils and then there are Cretacolor Woodless Watercolor Pencils. They are solid color: to gain a finer point you simply rub the tip at an angle across paper. The color, weight, and silky smoothness must be experienced to be believed. I am all about amortization; if you calculate how many sets of lesser pencils you would have to buy to get the same length of use as these Cretacolor pencils, you'd see the economy of going for the gusto. No worries about trashing a fine point while sharpening. These pencils will last you a *very* long time. I have given several sets of these pencils as much-appreciated gifts.

Knitting Needles Set (Interchangeable) - Blue- By Denise Knitting Review

Knitting Needles Set - Blue- By Denise Knitting
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I use these needles for almost all of my projects, which is why I'm back to order a second set (too many UFO's on the needles--I ran out!). I started with a Boye Needlemaster, and hated it--the connections gradually came unscrewed, and the cables were stiff. The Denise connections have held fast every time for me, and I find the cables very flexible and easy to work with. I use all types of yarn, and have had no trouble sliding it on the needles and cables. I prefer plastic and wood/bamboo needles over metal, so this set works well for me. My husband finds the clicking sound of metal needles annoying, so he also likes my Denise set. The needle points aren't too sharp for me, and I'm a "pusher" (that is, I press the needle tip with my index fingertip each time I make a stitch).

I read that the people who invented the Denise set first invented the Boye Needlemaster, and the Denise set was their second attempt (they corrected the problem of the Boye connections gradually coming unscrewed as you knit). I think they got it right the second time around! I agree with the reviewer who found that the Denise needles weren't her cup of tea--it would be ideal if you could try them out before purchasing. Head over to your LYS and give them a whirl. I can't recommend them highly enough, but to each his/her own!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Different strokes for different folks a lot of people love this set so I won't just slam it and give it one star. Personally, thought, I hated it.

I found yarn did not slide easily on the needles. I had good luck with a pure acrylic yarn but an acrylic/wool blend stuck and was misery to knit with. I found the needles to be too bendy for my liking as well I prefer the slippery and stiff aspects of metal.

I found the cables, while flexible enough, to be thick and also sticky to the yarn.

I found the needle points sharper than I like.

The smallest needles in this kit is larger then the smallest needles in other kits.

I found the case to be junky looking which is not a huge deal but it's nice when things look pretty.

Lots of people love these kits and I really wanted to love it, too, but it just wasn't for me. IMO the biggest thing this kit has going for it is the fact that it allows you to make a shorter circular than the other kits out there however that wasn't enough of a draw for me to put up with the other aspects I didn't like. Better to have a kit you like to work with and then buy a few shorter circulars on the side.

One other good thing about this kit is that no matter what you supposedly can take it on an airplane. Personally I have not had a problem taking metal needles on but supposedly if the security advisory is high, you can have trouble and it is always up to the discretion of the airport screener you happen to get. It is nice to know these won't be confiscated at the whim of the TSA, but otoh what good is it to be able to knit in flight with needles you hate to use?

I suggest finding a local yarn store that will let you try these out before you buy them there's no other way to know if you will love or hate them.

Best Deals for Knitting Needles Set (Interchangeable) - Blue- By Denise Knitting

I was skeptical about buying these needles at first. I did extensive research online about which interchangeable needle set would be best/have the fewest problems. I tried a couple of other sets with disastrous results and a lot of disappointment. I finally broke down and bought these needles because, at the very least, they seemed to be light and the joins seemed to cause the fewest problems. I am SO glad I took a chance on them because they are wonderful needles. They are very light, feel natural in my hands and the tips are pointy enough to maneuver through the toughest of novelty yarns, but not so much that I feel I will hurt myself when I push them back through the loop to lift it off (a habit I have formed in my knitting).

The cords have a nice feel to them and relax relatively quickly once you get going. They do tend to have a little kink in them from their placement in the case, but it is easily remedied by a little bending action where the kink is. Not a big deal at all. The joins are also stable and I have had no trouble with them popping off or untwisting in the two years that I have used this set. Sure, they are a bit looser now than when I got them, but this just means I don't have to fish around for a paperclip to turn them and not a single snag on any type of yarn to date.

Pros:

They can go anywhere and you will always have your different needles sizes on you if you need to change your gauge.

Switching needle sizes is a snap, literally. You just pop off one set and put on a new one and keep knitting away, no hassle and no knitting with two different needles when switching sizes.

If your project calls for increases and you need more length on your cord, just pop on an extender and snap on a new cord and off you go.

No need to buy several different lengths of the same needle, you can customize these to the length you need, a REAL money saver!

The newer sets list the needle sizes in US and metric, which is a major plus, especially if you like to knit from European patterns and don't want to have to look up needles sizes on the web (if you don't have them memorized already). Also, my husband and I recently got a set of these for my mother-in-law from England and she loves them, as well. It's really helpful for her that it lists the metric sizes since a lot of British patterns use metric sizes.

Cons:

I have to say that with the updated sets, I don't really see any cons. However, if you get an older set, it seemed that the needles were just *very* slightly smaller than most other standard sizes (i.e. these size 10.5 needles seemed to be a *bit* smaller in diameter than my bamboo size 10.5 straight needles). I found that I have to adjust my tension to correct my gauge when using these, but this may not be a problem for most knitters, I tend to knit a little on the tight side. They have seemed to correct this with the updated sets, though. I compared my needles to my mother-in-law's set (purchased March 2008) and her needles do match up better to my set of straight bamboo needles than the needles in my set do (purchased December 2005), so this really isn't an issue anymore that I can tell.

It's too easy to start new projects and I keep leaving my cords in my unfinished projects!! BUT this is easily remedied by purchasing companion sets if you have a tendency to jump around in your projects, as I do. I really love that you can use the joins to clip your cords together when stopping mid-project. I don't worry at all about my yarn slipping off the empty cords.

All in all, this is a great set and one I couldn't live without. The best is when we take road trips. These are so light and so easy to change that it isn't a hassle to knit on the road at all and they don't have the annoying problem of hitting the car doors as straight needles do. I highly recommend this set as a must-have toolkit for any knitter!

Honest reviews on Knitting Needles Set (Interchangeable) - Blue- By Denise Knitting

I have both the Boye and Denise Interchangable sets that I use for both straight and circular knitting. I have a few projects always going at the same time, so I'm always using both sets. However, I noticed I always grab the Denise first. Why? I think it's because I like the way they lock and stay together rather than the screw mechanism with Boye. No matter how tight I make them, they ALWAYS come undone. Plus, the colors come off on the Boye where the tips meet during knitting and look shabby after awhile where the Denise still look new. The Denise are also always 'warm'. Being in a cold climate the majority of the time, I hate having to warm up the metal Boye's first (just my peeve). They only things I can negatively say is that, yes, unfortunately, they do not have smaller cords and needles. So that makes knitting certain socks not an option with the Denise....(that's why I got the Boye).

Now comes the part where the Denise Needle company really impressed me. I have a kit that I got back in 2003. While they still look brand new, I had a few cords that had tips snap off over time(not sure why, I knit loose and was working with light yarn.) They have a lifetime guarantee that covers all knitting parts. So a few weeks ago I sent off my parts with a nice little note and my $1 to cover shipping. Well, within DAYS I had an entire new set of cords and an incredibly nice letter apologizing for any problems or inconvenience to me (I guess there was a manufacturing issue the year I bought them). In this day and age where companies only want your money and seriously lack customer service, this company has my loyalty and will gladly spread the positive word about them on this alone! They seem to be extremely customer oriented and it shows! With Boye, on the other hand, I had a frustrating time getting a correct needle size when the kit was sent with the wrong one (giving me a double set of #6's). So the money for the Denise kit is WELL worth it!! Happy knitting.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Knitting Needles Set (Interchangeable) - Blue- By Denise Knitting

I have an older version of this product at least 10 years old and it is going strong. I don't use these needles for everything, but when I'm carrying a lot of stitches (as in a sweater knit in-the-round) with a yarn that is sport weight or heavier, these are really nice. I knit on airplanes a lot, and really appreciate the face that the TSA doesn't mess with me, as well as the flexibility of this set. The current manufacturers will replace any parts of this set that fail. In the 10 years of knitting with this set, I've had a joint unlock only once, and it was when I was pulling hard on the joint.

I don't use these needles for sock weight or lace weight yarns the points are not pointy enough for me for these weights. But I like the points in the set and the plastic needles slide but are not super slippery.
