I purchased this to paint black satin bridesmaid sashes with acrylics mainly to prevent the cracking of using straight acrylic paints. Washability was not tested.

My stores didn't carry this product (Walmart nor Michaels), so for those who would like to know the back of the bottle reads:

Waterbased. Shake well. Mix 1 part medium to 2 parts paint. Clean up while wet with soap and water. Prewash fabric before painting to remove sizing. After painting, air-dry 24 hrs, then heat set before washing. Care: wash inside out with cool water. Bottle instructions are to mix 1 part fabric medium to 2 parts paint.

Pro:

-works with ANY brand of acrylic paints, doesn't have to be Martha Stewart (a big plus as I already had a huge paint collection I used it with Americana, Anita's & Apple Barrel).

-easy cleanup, soap & water or when dry it peels off skin like dry Elmer's Glue.

-fabric can flex/be bent without cracking the painting.

-mixes well with paints, no pigment separation issues.

Con:

-seems to make the paint "soak" into the fabric; it took me a couple coats to get the "true" color to show (but this may depend on what type of fabric you're painting)

-bottle isn't pour friendly; I painted in small color amounts & often only needed one or two drops of the medium. If the bottle is not tilted straight upside down, the drop runs down the top and will fall from somewhere on the side of the bottle. If bottle is tilted straight upside down, often 3-4 drops come out at a time. Not a major problem as I didn't need to be precise & just poured holding a paper towel on the side to wipe it down to prevent buildup, but worth mentioning since everyone likes things that are easy to use (hi to product development).

I ordered this to mix with a Glidden paint to make fabric paint. I used it on a sofa and it went on super smooth. I had also ordered the Folk Art Medium Textile and used it as well. The Martha Stewart went on much smoother and there weren't as many roller marks. It seemed to take to the fabric faster I thought overall that it was a superior product so I ordered two more to complete the job.

I was extremely pleased with this product, I used it to paint an upholstered chair by mixing the fabric medium with latex paint and water. Three coats later and I have a brand new chair!

Use them with a light hand, but nice quality for the price. A bit softer would have been more preferable for better ease in blending colors. Using for portrait work. A few of the leads were broken, making them difficult to stay sharp. Suspect this was caused in shipping.

These pencils are great for precision work. I definitely recommend using them with a layer of hard pastel to get the process and painterly surface going. Definitely nice for a pencil.

I loved my set of 24 Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel pencils so much that I decided to order the whole range (set of 60) so I will have a travelling set as well as a set for the studio. These pastels have proven to be quite sturdy, I haven't had one break on me yet. I would probably rate them as a semi-hard pastel, but each pigment has it's own properties and some seem softer than others. They are great for small pastel paintings (5x7 and even 8x10) and excellent for detail work on larger pastel paintings. I would highly recommend these pastel pencils. Please note that these are not oil pastels/colored pencils but are a variation of soft (chalk) pastels.

They are great! Work like regular chalk pastels, but no mess on your fingers! Rich color, better to sharpen with a razor blade even though you can use a sharpener, it gets a finer line.

I loved these pastel pencils. I was only sorry that I had only bought the 24 count set. They truly are buttery smooth going on and then when using blending stumps...oh so smooth and beautiful.

I highly recommend this brand of pastel pencils...but be smarter than me...buy the largest set you can afford. There simply were not enough colors to do much of anything...at least for the things I was needing. But a really GREAT product!

I love this set. I bought it to paint my miniature wargaming models. Never used an airbrush before. Never even seen one up close. I unboxed and assembled everything without too much trouble. There are no instructions for that so you have to be a bit mechanically inclined to succeed. I mixed up some paint and base coated my first model within an hour. My only problem was that the thing was blasting out way too much paint for my little job. Well, I did some searching on the internet and found out I was running it at 40 psi and should have had it dialed back to 20 psi. I cut back the pressure and it's much more controllable.

Unfortunately I also found out in my research that for really fine work like I plan to do I need a gravity feed brush, whereas this is a bottom (siphon) feed. I found out siphon feed brushes need 15 to 20 psi to work, while gravity feed brushes run fine at 8 to 15 psi. The higher the pressure the more paint the thing throws out so detail work requires the lowest pressure you can work at.

Oh well. I still love this brush. I used to prime paint my miniatures with cans of spray paint. The results were often very bad runs, streaks, globs, just awful. With this airbrush I was able to put a perfectly even, very thin prime coat on my miniature in just a couple minutes. The best job of priming I've ever done! And that was with zero experience and working at double the pressure I should've been at.

I have a bunch models that need priming. Can't wait to get started!

Oh! And I ordered a nice gravity feed brush for the detail work. Once you have the basic setup you can just order new brushes and plug them in. This is a great starter package.

Discount Silhouette Pen Holder

I purchased the pen holder and since it's made out of plastic and the screws are made out of metal the screw threads on the holder easily stripped and the screws no longer fit snug. I recommend buying a metal version of this product as it will probably be more durable than this useless piece of plastic.

I ordered this pen holder to replace my old one that I lost. The previous pen holder I had purchased from Silhouette and it was mostly plastic but the screw and hole were metal. This item is all plastic. The screws on both sides were stripped right out of the package. I did not even get to use it. The company is making me pay for shipping to send back a defective item!

I was so excited to try the pen holder for my Silhouette so I could use Sharpies and other pens in it. HOWEVER, the screws to hold the pen seem like they are stripped (and they definitely are now). From the moment I took it out of the package and tried a Sharpie in the holder, my sharpie wouldn't stay still. It wobbled back and forth in the direction opposite the screws. After trying to tighten the holder a bit more to reduce the wobble, the screws stripped the holes in the holder and now a pen won't stay tight in the holder. Very disappointed in this product. I'm planning to return it and find something else maybe a metal holder.

It was also quite difficult to align the pen in the holder at the right height for the nib to stick out, yet not get squished when the pen was placed on the paper.

I own the older Silhouette SD and wanted this holder. It works with the new Inkjoy pens and my thin Sharpies. I did, however, figure out I had to increase the speed on the Sharpie. When drawing on smooth Bristol, a slow speed will cause some bleeding (this is not a design issue).

I only have it 4 stars because I've barely used it. Also, I could only use one screw on the right and not both screws. (No room on the left.) So far I haven't had any issues with the lien slipping.

Got these for face painting at a Harvest Festival. The tips began to come loose on a few of the brushes half way through the event. Not ideal when you have 50+ kids in line. They worked fine but the quality left something to be desired. I glued them back together when I got home and they seem to be okay now. If you buy these I would check to see if any of them need glued before use. They did not shed, which was good and the only reason they get 3 stars instead of 2.

As kids we all loved to color in coloring books.

I bought these figuring they weren't going to be fantastic. They're not wonderful, but they will get the job done, provided you're doing light work with them. The handles are very lightweight (aluminum maybe?), and the design of them means that, the way I hold them, I tend to unscrew them while working. However, the different assortment of blades is well worth the price. There's a blade for just about everything, from rough carving all the way to detail work. The set as a whole would be great for a beginning carver, when you're looking for a decent product for less money. Do you really want to spend a ton of money on a hobby that you may not like?

This brush keeps a good load and allows good tip control. I wish I had found the sooner. The only thing they could improve is a more contoured handle. Better than Winsor Newton.
