The price and quality you get in these student grade paints can't be beat.

-They're okay when extended with medium. You have to use a lot of them in the medium to not lose the colour. I recommend using a professional medium with them if you can afford it. I definitely noticed a difference when I used Liquitex gel mediums vs Golden or Winsor & Newton.

-The pigment load is okay, but will not look "vibrant". Some of the colours are noticeably brighter than others when mixed with medium (Pthalo blue looks great for example, whereas primary yellow tends to look flat)

-They don't hold up to the test of time well, the lightfastness is not great but definitely better than other student grade paints.

I recommend these for:

-Art students/any school based painting project

-Hobbyist or new painter

-Experimentation with new techniques

I do not recommend these for:

-Paintings you intend to give as a gift (or keep)

-Paintings you intend to sell

-Anyone past "student"

I wanted to get acrylic paint but I wanted to start off with basics, this did just that more me. It's easy to mix colors to make tons of new ones.mthe shades are very true to their colors. In comparison this is about what'd you pay if you bought a bunch of 2oz tubes by them self, more for the same price well sure why not?! Comes with white and black too, so you can lighten and darken your colors. I don't know much about acrylic paint but it does it's job, it's thick ( I like that ) but easily thinned with some water.

Just started painting and so far these paints are perfect for me. Great to start with. I mix my own colors by just trial and error and I am pretty happy with the results.

The paint goes on smooth and dries within 10 minutes, which is good because a few times I made mistakes and was able to take a wet paper towel and just wipe off the paint with out disturbing the paint on the layer underneath that had already dried. Once its dry tho I dont think it will come out.

Great paints to start with. My sister who is a professional artist also gave her approval (for what that's worth).

These were the perfect stencils for a craft project that involved painting a large piece of PVC. Because of the curves, standard stencils did not work. The adhesive on these is strong enough to create a good seal, so there is no bleeding under the stencil, but it still peels off the surface easily. The stencils are not as thin as others on the market, which makes them sturdier. They peel off cleanly, and wash up well. I used them several times over the course of a week, and the adhesive is still perfect. I highly recommend them, especially if you aren't painting a flat surface.

What beautiful, easy-to-use, and fun watercolor paints! You control the opacity, the texture, and the shimmer, by how wet you get the paint and your paper. The mica in the paint lends a shimmer to the color giving it a very pretty look, an almost magical look without the in-your-face sparkle (literally and figuratively) of actual glitter. Getting the paint wet enough, but not too wet, will make a very creamy consistency so that applying it to a smooth surface feels and looks as though you were applying a nail polish with lots of shimmer. Using more water will give a transparent, shimmery watercolor look. Going to either extreme --very dry or very wet as a wash--will yield the least amount of shimmer.

So far, I've experimented using the paints on the following paper:

(1) regular cardstock,

(2) Acid-Free Bleedproof Paper (Bee Paper Company, purchased on amazon),

(3) old 130# Aquabee watercolor paper,

(4) World Market Mulberry Tissue Paper, and

(5) regular printer paper.

The colors work well on the first four surfaces, however I wouldn't recommend using them on regular printer paper, as the paper buckles a bit-as would be expected.

The range in this 12-pack Creative Imaginations Twinkling H2O's Ultimate Kit, will leave you wanting more colors. After googling, I found Luminarte makes more colors, and Wolf Camera offers more of a variety than Amazon, at least at the time of this review. I've purchased items from Wolf with no complaints, prices are reasonable, they've been helpful, but I'd prefer ordering through Amazon Prime since there is no charge for shipping and handling. Whatever you do, try the twelve pack. You'll love the shimmer and have fun with Luminarte's Twinkling H2Os Watercolor paint pots. Hope this info helps, and happy painting to you!

UPDATE July 14, 2013: Since my review Wolf Camera no longer carries this product AND the Creative Imaginations company is no longer in business. Fret not, however, since you can learn how to make your own shimmering watercolors and acrylics by searching on YouTube. Not only will you save money, but you'll have more of a variety of colors using paints you already have on hand! Have fun!

This set has quite a nice variety of colors. I also purchased the Romance set. I learned about the Twinks from artist Dion Dior who teaches classes in how to use them. The lovely mica gives them just a little twinkle and sparkle and gives your watercolors an ever so gentle twinkle or sparkle.

Be sure to put water on them and let them sit for about 10 to 15 minutes before you start painting. These watercolors are lovely little pans, but you do use them differently than "ordinary" pans. After the water sits on each pan, the paint has a lovely creamy texture. That's when you paint it on to get the twinkly effect. If you just dip your wet brush on the dry Twink you will NOT get the full effect.

These work for floral and landscape and typical watercolor subjects. Warning: these are so lovely, they might be addictive. I just ordered a few more colors....there is a new Oyster color that can be blended with some of the other colors to lighten them!

I like the colors very much but found different colors reacted a bit different to water, some stuck together in a big ooze and others dried out quicker than I wanted. None the less very fun to play with.

You pretty much have to buy an assortment of fabric markers no matter what, and I needed more black because I kept running out of that first. These are a relatively good deal so I thought I'd try them. My only issue is that they tend to grab the fabric and pull on it while trying to mark on soft t-shirts. The absolute BEST fabric markers out there are the Sharpie stained ones, but they are a bit pricey and they don't last long. So, these are a good option if you need a lot of black at least.

I'm new to machine embroidering and was looking for a thread set to get started with that had a variety of colors and good thread weight quality. I priced this set out at a chain fabric shop and the same set here on Amazon was much more affordable. (This set actually has 250 more meters of thread.) The thread itself is smooth and sews really nice with no breaking or fraying. The colors are vibrant and there is plenty of thread for many emroidery projects. I'm super happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

The only reason i don't give 5 stars, is because some pencils are so fragile, it's really hard to sharpen even with a proper cutter. But the quality of the charcoals is almost perfect. So my rating is 4.5 on 5.
