Addi turbos are absolutely the best circular needles if you like to knit fast. They are very smooth and slippery and the yarn just comes around without having to constantly push it. I have about nine in different needle and length sizes and love them all. The join area never has a bumpy part where yarn gets stuck, unlike in some circulars. I don't know if it's a different metal, but they are completely different to knit on than cheaper metal needles. The only problem I've ever had is with one needle getting squished when it ended up on the floor of my car and got stepped on. But even that one is still usable. Just make sure to choose the right length. I'd use 9" or 12" for hats, so you can stay on circulars as long as possible (though the 9's would be tough for bigger hands). Probably 16" for a kid's sweater. I haven't yet tried magic loop with these, but that would call for a longer length I believe. Oh, the only people who might not like these circulars are people who's biggest peeve is having yarn fall off and prefer to knit with something "sticky" like bamboo. But get these if you want your yarn to slide around easily.

I love these needles, they do not snag, are crisp and easy to use. price is reasonable; I've used bamboo and alum. but, these are far better needles.

Here's my take on these fabric markers:

PROS:

1. I'm a big fan of the brush tips on these markers. Used with a light touch, they will mark the fabric easily without a tremendous amount of bleed-through (unless you're marking a white t-shirt).

2. Colors are bright -VERY BRIGHT -so marking clothes for identification is a snap. No more black marker fading into the fabric.

3. The markers stay within in the designated space without bleeding outward. Thus, these markers are excellent for creating designs on clothing.

4. They're just plain fun to use.

CONS:

1. If all you're doing is marking clothes, you might do as well or even better with a fine line Sharpie.

2. Permanent markers are permanent (duh!), so you need to practice before putting Sharpie to fabric. Making a good design is not as easy on fabric as on paper, and making a mistake is forever!

OVERALL:

These fabric markers are fun to use with their brush tips. Just don't let the younger children loose with them.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program There are quite a few things I like about these markers:

1. It is a medium with no learning curve. As someone who has worked with hot glass for over 10 years.... it is sure nice to have something you can pick up without worry, danger or the need for lessons to get basic technique down. These are a lot of fun to use, more so than I would have thought. I like the brush tip. The ink flow is somewhere between a pen and brush. Between the 2 you can get quite a variety of effects. A light tough gives you feathering, a little more pressure a solid line. You can vary the width and intensity depending on how you hold it and how hard you press.

2.. The colors are bright and water fast. I was a little worried at first and washed the first shirt I made inside out so that if it bled it would do so on the t-shirt and not other clothing. No bleedine (either as I drew or in the wash) no problem! I would not give these to a 5 year old... who knows how long it would take to get off skin (but the same can be said of any permanent marker).

3. The ink will take on a variety of surfaces. I'd planned to use these with sneakers and a canvas bag which is very plain/ dull. I tried them out first on some inexpensive blank t-shirts I got to work in (yard work, hot glass... where I do not want good clothing ruined). So, I figured since these were meant to be effectively disposable it was a good way to try out the markers before using them on more expensive, less easily replaced items. I liked the results so much and had so much fun decorating the shirts... they are no longer as disposable as they once were ;).

4. They can also be used for basic Id on clothing, lunch boxes.... things which tend to get lost at school. The colors make it a lot more fun!

Note: the "stained" in the title is an appropriate descriptor both because of the permanence and because of the transparency. What you get are colors much like stained glass. The transparency gives you nice bright colors, but (and this is my only issue... not complaint exactly) because the colors are transparent they do not show up as well on darker cloth. They worked well on white, light blue... but only the black & blue were very visible on a maroon shirt. Maybe (hoping) they will come out with some opaque colors (like the gel pens). That would open up a whole new range. It's a small limitation and one I would not have thought of had I not gone hog wild with this set of markers.

When you consider the cost of art media, or a designer shirt.... you get a lot for the money! You can not buy even a screened artist shirt for what these markers cost. For just over $10 you can have a one of a kind item! Less expensive and just and enduring as those calanders made with kid's art e.g. I am thinking of all kinds of ways these can be used. I may have to order another set (and if they come out with opaque colors, will get one for sure)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program After Homeschooling for 20+ years we have tried every available method for painting or drawing on clothes. Even though these markers are specially designed for clothing they do not meet our expectations for quick, easy, no-fuss, results.

The tips are a major bummer. Actually they look a regular sharpie that we have used a hundred times already on clothing where the tip frazzles and leaves stringy pilling hanging off. That cause a smear and you can't get detail lines or marks with these. So I'd stick with a fresh regular sharpie, and then as it gets used over & over and starts to frazzle on the end you can call it a stained sharpie then.

I was extremely excited about using this product for a project I was working on (putting a quote onto a throw pillow). However, I am extremely upset with the performance of the pen. There was not even enough paint in the marker to finish one quote containing 16 words. I would not buy this product unless you plan on using all of the colors for a very small project.

She really liked the fine edge for sketching out her designs but wasn't as jazzed about the neon toned yellow and green. The depth of color on the yellow in particular was not what she wanted. She said it just did not read true yellow, more like highlighted yellow.

We have washed a few of the t-shirts she has done with these and the color stayed true.

All in all, a solid value for the money.

These pens do stay moist long enough to apply several colors to a stamp and then make a good impression or two, and the brush tips apply the ink very efficiently when used sideways. That's clearly their main virtue. The fine-tipped end is great for repair and touch-up work in matching hues (though of course the colors tend to write with a bit more saturation than the stamped impression).

However, with several of these markers, the fine tip simply dropped out the first time I uncapped that end -complete with the tiny attached quill that draws ink from the reservoir sponge into the tip. I'll be looking for some way to glue the tips on. So, beware, especially if you have younger kids using the pens, or babies crawling on a rug below, or otherwise not-so-contained workspace.

The included plastic case is an "almost-but-not-quite" solution for holding them. It pops open easily when the set falls, and even came apart in the mail before they arrived. But even if you discard the plastic, keep the card with the color index. The caps aren't necessarily a perfect guide to color, but the included card offers an overview of all 108 colors, and each marker specifies its color number clearly.

Be sure, of course, to have a good stamp cleaning blotter or applicator bottle, so that light-colored stamp marker pens aren't discolored by contact with darker ink residues.

Love these double-ended marker. I use them for stamping (use brush end to color entire stamp or fine point to color just part of a stamp), and they work great!

I also use these markers to color in coloring books for adults (images with very small pieces to color, as well as some larger areas). They are phenomenal at controlling where the ink goes when working in tight spaces, and I love the "brush" feel of the large end, which allows you to color at an angle, where you can cover maximum page space as you brush the color of the marker over a large surface. Yet, if you need a medium-point tip, you can use the end of the brush marker, and you get that, too.

In comparing various dual-tipped markers made by various companies, I found these to be just as good as some of the much more pricey markers. I've also had good experience with these markers lasting a LONG time, which is great as I hate it when markers dry out right away! Hope you enjoy 'em!

These brushes are not super soft but they are nicely pliable. There's a combo of flat and round brushes with a good range in sizes for each. They are pleasingly shaped and maintain their shape surprisingly well while painting. While there is a little splitting of the tip that won't allow for micro-detailed work on smaller canvases, for the price and quality of these brushes I would say this is a great buy. Use it as a starting point, or an addition to your set. If you're a beginner artist, this is perfect with the addition of a few higher quality brushes for the details.

These are VERY long handled brushes, which is not evident in the picture. If you like longer handles, you will really enjoy these I found it to be really nice! They do stain a bit and are hard to keep super white, but I haven't found this to affect my colors while painting.

I use these for acrylic and oil painting. Great Brushes! Well worth the money. The fibers stay together even with the heavy paint giving you very clean edges. Also no shedding! The only issue I had was keeping them completely white as the color stains them, but it doesn't leach into the new color you are painting with. Also, FYI the handle is painted silver wood, not metal. That wasn't really an issue for me though. Great Product!

This is a nice brush set, and hold their shape very well. The handles are very long, and the brush area is much bigger than the picture shows. I originally purchased these to use as an extra set for medium to fine detailing, they are too large for that. However, they are quite useful for larger painting areas.

Good pencils. Good color selection. Very nice and smooth on Stonehenge paper. I don't really recommend for velour. They are wider than a regular pencil (but so is conte) so be aware you may need to use a wider sharpener or use other sharpening tools. Will definitely help render better details. very happy with these.

I was excited when I found this item because I was starting a cross-stitch quilt top and wanted to do it in shades of blue, so I though this might be easier and cheaper then having to go out and buy everything individually. However, from the picture I thought the blues would be more closely related then they were. 3 of the blues had more of a blue undertone, while the other 3 had more of a turquoisey-blue/green undertone, which is fine if you aren't planning on using them all in the same project or that's what you're going for, but for my purposes they didn't really look right together, so I can only use 1/2 of the pack which is kind of disappointing, but at least I'm glad I bought 2 packs. As far a quality, it's just okay. When separating out the threads (i.e. pulling out 2 of the 6 strands to do the stitches with) the separated strands don't stay together very well, so I am constantly having to go back and fix the stitches where on strand has pulled all the way through but the other strand has bubbled up. I've done projects like this before that came with their own thread and this is the first time I've ever had this issue, which over the course of an entire queen sized quilt top will probably get increasingly more irritating. So all-in-all the product is okay. I took away one star because it wasn't what I had expected and I really can't use half of what I bought, and one star because I don't feel the quality is that great.

EDIT: 6/25/13: the thread is even worse than my original review in the next paragraph, so I deducted another star. It's too thin, breaks too easily, is almost impossible to thread through a needle. But so far it survives washing. I've mended or hand-sewn a number of articles which yet haven't come apart or shown stress. So maybe only working with it, is the problem.

Thread holds your clothing together, so you want it to be strong. I was against buying polyester thread for that reason, but decided to give this bag of thread a try. The colors are as depicted, muted colors. Color quality is good. Thread quality is not. It will work with clothes you don't think will get rough treatment. The thread is VERY thin, but not as thin as those mini-spools packed in sewing kits. Maybe it's stronger than it looks, but it looks like it will break on the first tug. Sew your stitches somewhat loosely, and make whatever you make somewhat larger in size than otherwise needed, so you don't pull so much at the seams. Happily, that caution still allows a wide variety of things you can sew or mend.

As for the worry about the notches in the spools, just set a washer between the bobbin winder and the spool, so there won't be any catching. Or, one of those spool protectors housed atop DVD spindles. See if that helps.

But for anything mending/sewing of cloth likely to pull due to usage or size, go for mercerized cotton. That's what I'm going to do, now.

I bought this thread, because I bought a new sewing machine.

I am only on the first spool of dark blue thread.

I found that it starts unraveling and I need to pull all of it out of the threader and start all over again.

Also, it's not spooled correctly, so I find that again, I have to pull all of it out of the machine and try to straighten it out on the spool, to start again. maybe it's just the one roll, but I don't know yet.

I don't like to sew and all I really do, is mend some things.

When I have this much trouble, it makes me less likely to use my new machine.

I noticed someone wrote that she couldn't get the fine details of this die to come out. With my machine (Grand Calibur) I added a small shim (piece of cardstock), ran the die at an angle several times and I put a piece of wax paper between the die and the paper. Sometimes I have to poke a few pieces out but it comes out perfect every time. I love this die and the process works with all of my intricate dies. So much fun . . . so little time. Hope this helps.
