I couldnt believe I got this set for that price! I kept buying separate needle pairs until I came across that kit.

The quality of Takumi Clover needles cannot be beaten, it is great for those who prefer the soft and warm feeling of bamboo in their hands over the cold aluminium, for those who don't like slippery aluminium needles, and those who want to go the "sustainable" way. The case is sturdy and well made.

THe smaller needle sizes would be too fragile in my opinion, I would get those in aluminium if I had to.

Very smooth needles, the carrying pouch looks cheap but is actually pretty sturdy the only thing I don't like is the colors of the pouch look a little dead/dull but that doesn't affect how the needles work so I didn't let it influence my review. Overall the price is amazing and much better than going out and buying each individual needle. Very smooth no splinters.

I'm pleased with the quality of clover products and it come with a nice casing. It's a good investment. I don't have to purchase separately for the needles and it cost more. Value for money set.

Bought to carve rubber stamps. I'm a beginner. This tool is great to get started and see what styles work for me. It's comfortable for my hand and I'm able to get replacement blades w ease. I live in a hi humid area I highly recommend you leave a piece if chalk in the handle w blades as they tarnish. It doesn't affect the cut but thought you'd want to know. Take care.

This Halloween, I didn't want to carve my pumpkins in the traditional sense (cutting out holes in the pumpkin). I wanted to do more than that and the Speedball fit the bill perfectly. Sure, it's meant for carving stamps, but the principle is the same. It goes through the thick skin easily and requires little effort.

I was able to do a full face carving of Walter White (from Breaking Bad) in about two hours with this product. I was really impressed the results.

I wish they made the cutting tips out of stainless steel. That would really help cut down on the rusting.

Also, the collet is a bit difficult to use. The cutting tips tend to get stuck when unscrewing them.

We purchased this so we could remove some of the rind on our pumpkins but leave some behind so it would glow. Worked like a charm! The different blade options came in handy with some of the more intricate parts of our design.

We also like the storage in the handle and the fact that we could throw it in the dishwasher and it came out like new. This is a great little tool.

Review of Denise2Go for Crochet

A few years back, one of my very first crochet "investments" was to purchase a complete DENISE INTERCHANGEABLE CROCHET HOOK SET.

I have never been a fan of plastic hooks. Before buying Denise hooks, I had many horrific experiences where a plastic hook snapped into pieces while I was crocheting and I was lucky to have both eyes afterwards. So I was a bit leery of this set before reading all the great reviews. With a retail price of $44.95, it was so much cheaper than the other interchangeable hook sets at the time that I decided to risk it. (It didn't hurt that the set was made entirely in the USA in a zero landfill environment.)

After the set arrived, I fell in love. Although the hooks were plastic, they didn't have the brittle seams that snag on yarn as other plastic hooks do. I found it easy to assemble the cords and to build my own double-ended and Tunisian hooks. And I've never had one break or even feel close to snapping. I have since purchased extra hooks in some of my favorite sizes so that it is easier to do double-ended crochet projects.

For some reason, although I love metal hooks for "regular" crochet, I've always found them very uncomfortable for Tunisian and double-ended crochet. And while bamboo hooks are great, when I'm crocheting on the subway commute, I don't really want to be poking my neighbor with a 14″ long hook. These Denise hooks have always helped fill that gap for me. The plastic doesn't feel as harsh to the touch as metal, and it doesn't get cold in the way that metal does. Using a cord (or multiple cords) allows you to have a long hook length without jutting out.

The Denise hook set is what I always pack when I travel because it allows me the flexibility of starting any crochet, double-ended crochet, or Tunisian crochet project that strikes my fancy while I'm away.

I contacted the very friendly people at Denise because I wanted to review the original set on my blog for National Crochet Month 2013, and they introduced me to the Denise2Go for Crochet, one of their newest products.

The Denise 2 Go kit comes rolled up in an attractive fabric designed by Lorna Miser (of Lorna's Laces yarn). This is truly something that can fit in your pocket (if you have jeans or something with sizeable pockets on, that is).

Each kit includes 6 hooks (in US sizes from H-8/5 mm to M-13/9 mm), 4 teal cords (in 3 inch, 5 inch, 9 inch, and 14 inch lengths) to coordinate with the case, 2 end buttons, and 1 extender.

For a crocheter who works primarily with sport/DK, medium/worsted, and bulky yarns, these hooks are a great range for projects on the go.

I love that the cords are a different color than the ones in my regular set.

The kit retails for $39.95. The frugal version of me would say you might be better off buying the full kit, since it has more hooks, cords, extenders, and end buttons. The version of me that likes cute stuff and travels a lot would say you are better off buying the 2 Go kit since it is so darn adorable and it is even more portable than the full set.

Full disclosure: A free review sample of this kit was provided by Denise. Although I accept free products for review, I do not accept additional compensation, nor do I guarantee a positive review. My reviews are based entirely on my honest opinions.

AccuQuilt Go Fabric Cutter / B0021F62D6

I love quilting, but I'm having a harder and harder time making quilts due to some persistent back pain from my scoliosis. The fabric cutting portion of any quilt project is where I really struggle all that bending over, measuring, and pressing and moving the rotary cutter just causes me all kinds of problems. The light came on when I noticed my friend (who works with paper crafts) using a die cutter to create paper shapes and I had to wonder if something like that existed to cut shapes for quilts.

A lot of research later, I decided on an AccuQuilt Go! fabric cutter. The pros of the AccuQuilt is that it seems to be the most affordable fabric cutter out there, and the machine is small and portable for home hobbyists. The cons are that a new die has to be bought for each shape and dimension that you might want to use it's not like a paper cutter where you can adjust down from 3.5" to 2.5" on a whim. However, since I almost exclusively use 3.5" squares in my quilting, this wasn't a drawback for me I bought the 3.5" die to go along with the fabric cutter and anything else I need I will continue to hand-cut for as long as I can.

This machine is so easy to use. The quilt I'm working right now needs 60 squares of pink. The die I bought cuts two 3.5" squares per layer of fabric, and I can fit 8 layers of fabric in a single run through the machine. That's four runs through the machine for 64 squares and I accomplished all that, straight out of the box, without reading the user manual, in less than 30 minutes. That level of work would have taken me at least 3-4 hours by rotary cutter, and my back would be aching afterwards.

The two biggest complaints that I've seen for the AccuQuilt is that (a) the rotary mats have to be replaced periodically, and (b) there's some serious fabric waste to consider. For the first issue, the mats, I don't foresee a problem. The mats are much thicker than the rotary mats I've bought in the past, so they should last comparably long, and the mats are pretty cheap on the AccuQuilt site, especially compared to mat prices at my local fabric store. I have to cop to the second point, though the die could be laid out a lot more efficiently to prevent wastage and I'm surprised it's not. AccuQuilt does make and sell strip cut die, which will cut two clean 3.5" strips side-by-side (as opposed to two squares) and that looks a lot more efficient in terms of fabric use, but then of course you still have to whip out the rotary blade to cut the squares out of the strips. I'm going to try it and see how it goes, anyway.

I recommend the AccuQuilt fabric cutter system if (a) you use the same basic shapes frequently, and (b) you like to collect fabric scraps for scrap quilts. I'm so glad I bought one and only wish I'd found it years ago.

I bought myself an Accuquilt GO! cutter a couple of months ago. I had very high hopes for this product, and the short of it is, it has lived up to all those hopes.

The longer of it: I wanted to GO! for two reasons. First, I have carpal tunnel syndrome and using a rotary cutter is extremely painful for me. A few minutes of rotary cutting can result in several days of sore wrists and numb hands. Second, my cuts are never as accurate as I would like. I hoped the GO! would help in both areas.

I have not been disappointed. The crank handle on the cutter is large enough to comfortably hold on to, and easy to turn. It gets harder as you add more layers. I've put up to 8 layers through the cutter. 4 layers is probably best, 6 can be a chore to crank. At 8 layers I could barely force it through. With 8 layers, there were also some small places where the die did not cut completely through the top layer of fabric. I would probably not do that many layers again. But, even after manhandling the cutter this way, my wrists never cause me any discomfort after using the GO!

The accuracy has been very good. I recently finished the quilt top for a baby quilt for a soon-to-be-nephew, and the difference between this top and one that I hand-cut is noticeable. I did not have to square up the individual patches or the finished top. Best of all, the cutting was done in less than thirty minutes and I was on to piecing. The included value die has an assortment of sizes; I have been running all of my scrap fabric through on that die. Scrap fabric I would have considered too small to save before; now with one pass through here becomes usable pieces. In that respect, it has helped me be much more efficient, and MUCH less fabric gets tossed.

The cutter folds up for storage, so it doesn't take up valuable space in my sewing area. It comes in a heavy drawstring bag, so I can fold it and slide it in the bag and know that it won't get damaged. Last time I used the cutter, my usual table was occupied with another project, so I opened the cutter up on my ironing board, ran my fabric through, and put it away. Under five minutes and I had the binding strips cut and the GO! put away again.

For me, it's a win.

I spent a great amount of time researching this gadget before I bought it here on Amazon. I read the reviews that said it was wasteful and inaccurate. And I watched several YouTube videos. And I bought it. I bought it because I have a shoulder that bothers me greatly if I use it too much, and a ankles that swell if I stand too long. And a back that also is persnickety. I had started making quilts to be sent to Japan (quilts4Japan.org) and I quickly found out that my body wasn't able to do what I wanted it to do without some dry spells to recuperate. But I was in a hurry to make quilts!

The day it arrived I got out some fabric I hated and ran it through. I was a bit nervous but I had watched the video that came with it and read the instructions. It was so easy I couldn't believe it. It was absolutely PERFECT. Five minutes total, including getting nervous!

Recently I cut out the pieces for the same quilt I had made initially to go to Japan. A combination of 6" squares and rectangles that are 3" wide. It took me 1.5 hours to cut them all out. By folding the material carefully as shown in one of the YouTube videos, I am able to cut the waste down to a few tiny slivers. So far I have only cut six layers.

Now I have finished assembling the blocks. Because I didn't have to recheck each piece as I worked with it to make sure it was cut accurately, it went together in record time. Yesterday in about an hour I sewed the rows together. Normally by now I would have laid pieces back down to recheck that they were square. Didn't have to do any of that! I could tell during the piecing and assembly that they were, because they matched each other so well. I am VERY careful to put the fabric on the die correctly, on grain. I check any scrap that I did not just cut from the whole piece with a selvedge.

The first time I made this pattern it took me almost two weeks of short afternoons cutting and trimming and sewing to get this far (plus arranging the pieces within the quilt to distribute the colors). I couldn't work long because I hurt! This time I started cutting three days ago. This morning I will have finished the assembly of the rows and be ready to add the border.

Normally I have to keep my cutting board table clear so I can keep trimming. But now I just need enough room to cut off strips to put on the dies. I made a couple of little cardboard rulers for the two dies I am using so I don't cut the raw strips off my fabric any wider than necessary.

In order to preserve the life of the mat, I rotate it just a smidgen before I put it on top of the die and fabric. It still goes through without a hitch, but the impression it cuts in the mat is in a slightly different place.

I do think that the instructions could be better. They are very scattered. The inside of the die packaging tells how many you can cut from a certain sized piece of fabric. And finally I found a similar but fairly confusing table for all the dies online.

Also I think the patterns that are shown on their site are terribly unimaginative. I have created two so far that are not boring. The strip dies seem terribly overpriced to me in comparison to the smaller dies.

I admit it is tempting to buy more and more dies. But each time I use the AccuQuilt GO! I am SO glad I have it and the dies I bought. I consider it the best quilting tool I own except for my beloved Bernina.

Right now you could not PRY this from my arms!

Honest reviews on AccuQuilt GO Fabric Cutter

After much research I found the "go cutter" on Amazon at an excellent price (currently $182.96, free shipping). It shipped promptly and works as advertised. It comes with one die which has a 4in square, 2in square and two 2in triangles (finished sizes, "dogears" not removed.) Your biggest expense will be the dies which range from about $15 to several hundred dollars, mats extra. In my opinion, if you already have a rotary cutter and mat, the "strip" dies are a waste of money. You can cut strips almost in the same time it takes to cut and fold the fabric to fit the strip dies. I would stick to the dies with curved or more complicated shapes. For example the stacked tumbler, drunkards path etc or patterns which demand total accuracy like the double wedding ring. My advice is to go to the Accuquilt website and make a note of the dies you want, with their model number and price, then search the web for the best prices. I found the "Eleanor Burns blazing star" ranging in price from $41 to $85. Of course consider the shipping and some sites charge tax.

My only quibble is the fabric waste. This can be overcome somewhat by carefully folding your fabric to cover only the cutters and not the whole die to the edges. It's excellent for scrappy quilts. Just iron your scraps and stack them over the portion of the die which fits the best. One tip which works for me is ,after you run the die through the cutter, flip the die over and lift it off the mat, leaving your cut-outs on the mat. They don't seem to pull apart and scatter so much this way. another thing to remember is if you "fanfold" your fabric ,with wrong sides together, with a complicated die you will get "mirror" cut-outs. I hope this review has helped with your decision.

Squares and triangles do not cut accurate all the time. Look for you cuts being 1/8 off and it's a big deal when trying to put together quilt pieces! Eats through mats like crazy and once the mat is used up the cuts are crazy off, so be sure you stock up on plenty of mats! The strip dies and shape dies like the cat and dog one are the only ones that give you half-way decent cuts. Wastes a lot of fabric with inaccurate cuts. There is also a lot of prep work, for the fabric, before you can use it and it still doesn't cut accurate. I've joined groups, watched a bunch of videos and read almost every blog out there to try and make this thing do what it is suppose to do, which is give you accurate shapes, for making quilts, and even the "experts" on this say it isn't perfect every time! Waste of money! Save yourself some aggravation and just use a rotary cutter. You'll get better results and spend less time trying to match your pieces up.

I loved the personalized necklace that i received for my baby-shower, and really wanted to try to make my own! After reading several how-to blogs and researching different sets I didn't feel ready to spend $250 on set sold by one of the big retailers. I purchased this one and although it is extremely difficult to align all of the letters I feel like its a good deal for the price.

The more expensive sets have the letters placed on the stamp according to where it would generally be placed when writing: the lower case y is not center in the middle of the stamp it is lower on the stamp. The lower case f would be placed higher on the stamp. But this stamp set has all of the stamp centered in the middle so the artist will need to compensate for the placement.

Also, this set is 2mm, which is TINY! The majority of the hand stamped jewelery that's listed on ebay and etsy is between 3mm and 5mm. IF you are planning on oxidizing your items then this size is fine.

One great thing about these is that the slant of each letter is right on! IF you would like to start selling hand stamped jewelry, i would recommend purchasing a more expensive set, if you are just wanting to dabble around with hand stamping this would be the set for you!

While the quality of this item is fine, the font and size of the letters makes many of the letters (specifically the "e") illegible. I would not recommend this product.

I am very disappointed with the item I ordered nowhere in the description did it say that there were only 32 spools of thread; in fact the picture displayed on the webpage had 104 spools of thread, therefore that is what I thought I was purchasing. I am very dissatisfied I had other choices that had 100 + spools of threads for a similar price. I did not purchased them because I had use Sulky before and I like the product but I was lead to believe that I was getting 104 spools of thread since the picture you had on the webpage showed 104 spools of thread. I feel that I was taken advantage of and mislead.

A very disappointed customer.

(#1 REVIEWER)Sulky thread is my favorite thread it has a wonderful texture when the work is completed, and I often get compliments on my completed pieces which I am sure at least partially can be attributed to this wonderful thread.

It is easy to work with and does not get torn easily. I use it for both quilting and embroidery as the top thread (using another matching in color thread in the bobbin to cut down on overall cost).

The image in this product is deceiving showing the case full of thread, however the first line of description clearly states "SULKY-Slimline Embroidery Starter Assortment contains 27 of the most used 40 weight Rayon colors and Sulky Black-0020 and White0010 bobbin thread." As I write this review the cost of this product and shipping is $68.31. So it works out to be $2.53 dollar per spool (including shipping as part of the cost), and considering that the price includes the case this is not a bad deal.

I received this not too long ago, and have had much work experimenting with it. I've had little airbrushing experience, so I wanted to get something that would hopefully work well, but wouldn't run me too much.

I primarily use this for model kit building, and using it for just that, it works wonderfully. The initial box for the compressor and airbrush looks a little cheap, but the items themselves aren't. The airbrush feels like a sturdy quality tool, and the compressor looks exactly like it does in the picture. But white.

Now, the compressor has had only 1 issue so far, and that is the amount of heat it generates. It doesn't get so hot that you can feel it from across your table, but putting your hand to it, its pretty darn hot. This is usually after about 30 mins 1 hour of use, and its understandable since it doesn't come with a tank. I would suggest running it with a fan on, and taking a break every 30 mins to an hour for the compressor to cool down, just as a safety precaution. Everything else about it works fine, moisture trap and regulator does its job.

The airbrush is a little more confusing when I tried it. Initially no air came out, but it was due to the fact that I didn't set the PSI level yet (you can do so by pulling the black knob next to the gauge up and twisting it). Because it obviously isn't a $100 Iwata or anything, you can't expect it to work like one. But so far, I've had very little issues with it. It works, and well I might add. Occasionally a few hiccups, but many times it was due to my bad paint mixing skills. Make sure to clean it very VERY often, paint can get stuck inside this airbrush a bit. Also try dismantling it at least once or twice. You might have to do it eventually some time, and its a little confusing at first but you'll get it.

All in all, if you are on a budget and you want to learn how to use an airbrush, I would certainly recommend this, especially for model kit building. Not sure about other applications, but I'm sure you can use it for those too.

A great first time set up, very happy with it. I will probably upgrade in the next year or so to a better system, but this is a great set up to see if this is something you want to get into. I use mine for painting minituares, I use Vallejo Air Model color and I thin out the game color and it runs just fine. Before you spray you want to dismantle the brush and reassemble it about 10 times so when you clean it after each use you have the assembly down pat.

I have read through all of the reviews with low ratings and I can all see why they gave this WONDERFUL product a low rating. It is simply because they are ignorant, not because the product if broken. Heck, I thought my compressor and airbrush were broken when I first got them, too!

As a newbie to this product and airbrushing in general, here is a little newbie guide I threw together:

The compressor: The first deal is that the regulator is not attached. My compressor came with Teflon tape (I'm not sure if yours will, I got mine used). You NEED to wrap the male part on the compressor in Teflon tape then screw on the regulator. This is done so that the none of the air leaks out. Once it is attached, you can hook up the braided hose. Here is the deal with the compressor: when it is turned on, it will not constantly run, it has an auto shut off once it has stored pressure. On top of this, your airbrush must be hooked up to the hose & compressor for the gauge to work. To adjust the pressure, you pull out the black knob on the regulator and then twist it left/right, it should have + and symbols so you know which way to twist it. Note, the gauge will only read if you have the compressor running and the hose is hooked up to your airbrush! If your compressor has auto shut off and you need to adjust the pressure, just run some air through the airbrush so that it starts back up again. Also, keep in mind when you are airbrushing the compressor will turn itself on and off. THIS IS NORMAL AND A GOOD THING, don't let it alarm you. It means your regulator and compressor are working correctly!

The airbrush: as stated earlier, the airbrush must be hooked up to the compressor and the compressor must be running for it to work properly (this should be obvious, but I will state it anyway). There are two controls on the airbrush, and also some adjustments. The first control is pressing the trigger down, which will make air come out. Note, when it is pressed down there should be NO fluid coming out, just air. Once the trigger is pushed down, when you pull it back your liquid should come out stronger and stronger. If you cannot pull your trigger back far enough to let the liquid out, here is what might be wrong: On the very back of the airbrush (opposite of the front) is a little knob. If you loosen this knob, it will allow you to pull the trigger further and further back allowing you to release more and more liquid.

As I said earlier, I am nowhere near an expert or even an adept on air brushes. As my first air brush, for $80 (I got mine used from Amazon) this is WORTH EVERY PENNY. Airbrushes alone go for $100+, where this is an airbrush AND a compressor AND a regulator (yes, some airbrush/compressor kits don't come with regulators)! As for quality, I honestly don't know how good the airbrush is, but I used it to write my name and paint some model kits, and the paint (water based acrylic thinned with Windex) came out evenly with no splattering. Also, the included booklet is a joke. It is about 5 pages front and back, and basically explains how to clean your airbrush and tells you to practice painting lines, dagger strokes, and dots. The important thing is that it explains how to clean your airbrush. It is EXTREMELY important to keep your airbrush cleaned if you want it to last you forever. The brush gets gunked up with paint quick, so it is important to keep it clean. Just keep in mind that when you purchase this you will have to keep it maintained. It is not too hard to clean, you just need to run some cleaner through it and unscrew some small parts.

Conclusion: If you are looking for a airbrush for painting anything, this is worth it. I personally use it for painting model kits but you can use it for everything else!

This is my first airbrush so I have no baseline for comparison. As a beginner I am satisifed with the results I am getting. It definitely isn't second nature to me but my work seems to improve with practice and trial / error. The compressor seems very adequate. It does not cycle continuously or get hot. The brush itself has yet to clog. I disassemble it and clean it thoroughly after each use. Seems the cup could be designed a little better to make cleaning the bottom easier. The directions included with the kit are very brief. However, there is an extremely good review of the brush here: that will tell you all you need to know about it. All in all, for the money, I think it is a good setup for the beginner.

My 7 year old daughter spent several hours knotting the pieces of this quilt together on a 9 hour road trip. Everytime she put it down she would pick it back up and say, "one more." She didn't exactly make a quilt, she knottted a "purse" and a "hood" (mistakes turned useful) but she enjoyed it very much. If she'd had an adult's guidance making a quilt wouldn't have been a problem. This was a fantastic change from the constant DVD viewing that typically takes place on such long trips. I definitely recomend this craft.

My teenage neices LOVED it, even tho it seemed a toy for a much younger audience. It was quite beautiful and I considered ordering some for myself. I did have to order two for it to be big enough.

My kids and I worked on this project together. My ten-year-old enjoyed it and was very proud of the results. However, my eight-year-old got very frustrated and gave up. I decided to help and discovered why it was so frustrating for the younger child. The strips of fabric that you are supposed to tie together are just BARELY long enough to make a double knot. We had to work on the quilt in short periods of time because of the high frustration factor (even for me.) Just be aware that he picture on the box, with the perfectly flat quilt and perfectly tied knots is an impossible standard--the quilt we made was puckered and uneven, and that was with an adult helping. (It's still a cute quilt, and as long as my kid is happy, who cares?) Also, you have to be careful because if you pull the knots tight, you can actually tear the thin fleece. Since my older child enjoyed it, I'm going to get some more durable fabric and make a similar kit myself--I'll cut the strips longer so the knots will be much easier to tie. Overall, a good project for just the right child, probably an older child with a long attention span and good dexterity.

I ordered two of these kits as a gift for my niece with the idea that she could combine them and make a nice lap quilt. When they arrived, I was very disappointed to see the fabric was thin more like something you would make pajamas out of. I was expecting the kit to be made of fleece to make a warm and cuddly blanket. Instead, it was more like knit flannel. I returned the kits and will keep looking.

Some of the brushes in this set were great. Others the tips were not pointy enough or just badly manufactured. For the price I still purchased another set.

This is very quick and easy to to and very colorful. There is not a lot of details in the picture, rather a "blur" of the colors. Haven't finished yert, waiting to see what it looks like from a distance.
