This is NOT a cheap brush and is a particularly fine point one ...which is why I was disgusted to see that the seller just threw the brush in a large box without any kind of tube or cap covering the tip (which is how the other brushes from another seller arrived). As a result, the bristles were mangled when the brush arrived. Mangled bristles pretty much negate the purpose of an expensive, fine point brush. From my experience, I'll have to go through the bother of returning the existing brush in order to get a replacement. So I'll be eating the cost and never ordering from this seller again.

Review of Denise2Go for Crochet

A few years back, one of my very first crochet "investments" was to purchase a complete DENISE INTERCHANGEABLE CROCHET HOOK SET.

I have never been a fan of plastic hooks. Before buying Denise hooks, I had many horrific experiences where a plastic hook snapped into pieces while I was crocheting and I was lucky to have both eyes afterwards. So I was a bit leery of this set before reading all the great reviews. With a retail price of $44.95, it was so much cheaper than the other interchangeable hook sets at the time that I decided to risk it. (It didn't hurt that the set was made entirely in the USA in a zero landfill environment.)

After the set arrived, I fell in love. Although the hooks were plastic, they didn't have the brittle seams that snag on yarn as other plastic hooks do. I found it easy to assemble the cords and to build my own double-ended and Tunisian hooks. And I've never had one break or even feel close to snapping. I have since purchased extra hooks in some of my favorite sizes so that it is easier to do double-ended crochet projects.

For some reason, although I love metal hooks for "regular" crochet, I've always found them very uncomfortable for Tunisian and double-ended crochet. And while bamboo hooks are great, when I'm crocheting on the subway commute, I don't really want to be poking my neighbor with a 14″ long hook. These Denise hooks have always helped fill that gap for me. The plastic doesn't feel as harsh to the touch as metal, and it doesn't get cold in the way that metal does. Using a cord (or multiple cords) allows you to have a long hook length without jutting out.

The Denise hook set is what I always pack when I travel because it allows me the flexibility of starting any crochet, double-ended crochet, or Tunisian crochet project that strikes my fancy while I'm away.

I contacted the very friendly people at Denise because I wanted to review the original set on my blog for National Crochet Month 2013, and they introduced me to the Denise2Go for Crochet, one of their newest products.

The Denise 2 Go kit comes rolled up in an attractive fabric designed by Lorna Miser (of Lorna's Laces yarn). This is truly something that can fit in your pocket (if you have jeans or something with sizeable pockets on, that is).

Each kit includes 6 hooks (in US sizes from H-8/5 mm to M-13/9 mm), 4 teal cords (in 3 inch, 5 inch, 9 inch, and 14 inch lengths) to coordinate with the case, 2 end buttons, and 1 extender.

For a crocheter who works primarily with sport/DK, medium/worsted, and bulky yarns, these hooks are a great range for projects on the go.

I love that the cords are a different color than the ones in my regular set.

The kit retails for $39.95. The frugal version of me would say you might be better off buying the full kit, since it has more hooks, cords, extenders, and end buttons. The version of me that likes cute stuff and travels a lot would say you are better off buying the 2 Go kit since it is so darn adorable and it is even more portable than the full set.

I dont recommend this oven to anyone who is a serious p.c. artist. The temp. and time increments are not p.c. compatible,in fact, theyre ridiculous! It took me all day to find 275 degrees! The bottom cleaning door (are we making toast)???? is loose and gaps and lets heat out, hence it takes much longer than the estimated 20 minutes to heat up. PASS THIS UP!

I hate that the timer button is the on/off button, but I use it as an of/off button and not primarily as a timer, even though I've never had a problem with it getting stuck. Also, it heats up fast, so I set the knob a little past 20 and I can pretty much leave my work in there and go about my business. I'm stuck in Iraq so I love the small size and I like the pieces that I have made thus far, although I did overcook a batch or too. I use it all the time now and I'm very happy with it for price and for availability.

I bought this oven because I wanted better performance than a home toaster oven. I followed the Amoco's directions to a T the first time I used it, preheating while I worked on my piece. I set the thermostat to the clay manufacturer's recommended temperature, placed my work and an oven thermometer inside and went to work on the next piece. In a few minutes my work was in flames and the room was filled with noxious fumes and smoke. I could hardly breathe as I carried the oven outdoors to cool.

Amoco customer service is the worst. Not once did they express condolences for my lost work or concern for my health. Instead they interrogated me as if I were the one at fault, asking me to repeat my story over and over. Finally they consented to my returning the oven at my own expense so they could check it over and then provide a replacement.

Don't buy one of these ovens unless you're willing to be poisoned and burn your studio down.

As a professional craftsperson who was an Industrial Arts Major 36 years ago I've used and owned Amaco products a bit. I'm really disappointed that they would put anything as shoddily made as the brand new one we opened from an undamaged box was.

To begin with it's made of extremely thin metal from a Chinese factory with the worst quality control I've seen yet come from there. A bit stiffer than a beer can.

The case was badly racked diagonally in 2 opposite directions the front door was bent against the right side, the crumb tray door in the bottom was jambed in crookedly as well, and would neither open all the way or shut reliably either as the case assembly was not only diagonnally racked but the back and front bottom panels were so badly fit in place they blocked the crumb tray door opening and shutting. The pivot hinges for this were only little L shaped sheet metal extensions of the crumb tray door itself set in holes and were very flimsy, in fact the whole thing was badly bent up. There was a 3/8" gap on the left side because of this.

There is no tray as you would expect in toaster ovens costing less than half as much.

Instead there is a two-heights adjustable wire rack that is supposed to be pulled in and out by two thin sheet metal arcs attached to the front glass door hinge and the left one was all bent up in the brand new one we received.

While there is a heat dial and a timer dial you must provide your own oven thermometer. The dial didn't appear to me to be be a thermostat but a potentiometer.

There are also two very fragile plastic t-shaped wall stand-offs screwed at odd angles to the back of the thing.

After thoroughly examining this brand new example from an undamaged box I concluded it was too shoddy to safely use in our house (even had at half full price with a coupon) and put it back in its box and it went back the next day.

The thing is the size of an average toaster oven, but the poorest constructed one I've ever seen. We'll get a regular one, for less money and plug it into a timer and be Far ahead. I would never recommend to anyone that they buy this model. The materials were very flimsy and whoever made this couldn't have cared less at all about the shoddy way they did the job.

Caveat Emptor.

This clay oven is helpful with small polymer clay crafts. The height is not conducive for larger pieces as there are about 5 inches of safe cooking space inside the oven.

It does what it says it can and does it pretty well. I have no noticable hot or cold spots and nothing has burnt.

In hindsight, I am not sure what the difference is between this product and a traditional toaster oven. They seem identical in design and function.

The product I received (the one pictured in the photo) is a GREAT product. The stencils are thick plastic (as opposed to the vellum/acetate ones that are made for home decor/craft projects and sold in craft stores) and the size of very large index cards.

Each stencil sheet contains numerous imageseverything from sealife to animals to decorative objects to flowers to fairy tale objects to transportation to letters to numbers. While the individual images are small (1-3 inchesdefinitely will not fill up a whole sheet of paper), they are detailed and very easy to trace around and transfer to paper. My five year old was THRILLED with this box and much prefers it to any of the $2-5 each stencil sheets I have purchased for her.

I highly recommend this for anyone with young children. If you need super thick stencils, try the Melissa and Doug ones made from wood. My daughter has those, toobut they are SO thick that she has a hard time getting her pencil in all the nooks crannies to accurately trace the object. I honestly think these are the best stencils out there for kids and I have looked all over town for something similar to add to my daughter's collection and can't find anything like it.

The set comes with 24 translucent stencils, about the size of a 4x6 index card. They are made of thick plastic that will stand up with a lot of use. There are a few stencils that you look at and wonder for a few seconds just what exactly it is, like the cornucopia, but fortunately these are rare. Most of the stencils are great and easily recognizable. The designs are even labeled with a description in case you have any problems figuring them out right away.

I checked out toysrus, target, walmart, they simply did not have stencils with fun shapes. They only had alphabet ones. I'm glad that i finally decided to buy this one. My 5 yr old draws, decorates and colors for hours. There are several shapes that she always makes me draw, now she doesn't need my help with. This is a good buy, go for it !

There seem to be a lot of mixed reviews on this product, though overall customers seem very satisfied, but here's the real lowdown from a former teacher who bought this set for a grandchildren's craft box I was doing up for Christmas. Yes, this product was a teacher freebie for sending home Highlights subscription forms. But unless you can figure a way to get it free, go ahead and spend the money, because it has been the best set of stencils I ever added to my classroom. After 15 years of regular use, the box/handle and all the stencils were still going strong. And believe me, the set had been knocked around a lot over the years. Children never tire of creating pictures with the huge variety of stencil shapes in this box. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon after scouring the stores and searching online for stencils to include in the craft box I was putting together. And no craft box could be complete without stencils to trace in their artwork creations. It's small size makes it easy to store, and the handle means they can carry it along on trips or around the house. Perfect for any age elementary child. My personal box was used with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders, and all these ages would rush to get these whenever they had free time or inside recess. Don't listen to people nit picking about how close the designs are to each other on each stencil card, or the quality of the box. You will not be disappointed. Take it from someone who had and used a set like this for years. It will last far longer than it is used if you are getting it for your own children. Teachers... grab it at this price, or get it free through Highlights. Either way, you'll be glad to have it.

I bought this stencil set for two girls ages five and three and had the opportunity to play with them once they received the gift. They were fascinated with them but needed some encouragement and direction how to use them. It comes in a nice plastic case with a handle and is easily stored and portable to take with on trips. When I first ordered the Prang set, the picture showed a black metal box. That's why I ordered it. I can buy regular Prang watercolors in a plastic container in the town I live in cheaper (no shipping charge!). I see they have changed the picture... I kept this set though because it does have the square remove-able paint pans in it and I was pleased with that.

For a student grade paint, I think Prang paints are excellent. Great bright pigment. A good set for a beginning water-colorist to practice with. The brush is adequate, has animal hair and a point for fine lines. If you have a child who loves to make art, I recommend this set. It would be just enough colors to practice and learn color mixing. It would be a good set for nature sketching--the pigment is vibrant enough to do the job and the set is inexpensive enough that you wouldn't be absolutely heartbroken if it got lost. Also you can take the pans out and put them in a smaller container like an Altoids tin and also refill them with better paint when they are used up so it is pretty versatile.

Bought several of these for detailing bisque/plaster Christmas Village houses and for various acrylic painting/hobby crafts. i'm a long-time/experienced crafter in my opinion, these 'cheap' detail brushes are just that. Cheap, unusable, flimsy arrived already frayed and bent. I threw them in the trash shortly after they arrived. One can find decent, super inexpensive paint brushes (for instance, Royal & Langnickel, Craftsmart, etc.) but these brushes are crap.

Cheap Spellbinders W-001 The Wizard Embossing and Die-Cutting System

Well, I had seen this item on craft shows before and was impressed, but after reading the two negative reviews here I wasn't 100% sure. I took the risk and am so happy I did. This machine is really amazing! I want to comment on a few of the main complaints listed by other reviewers. First, the machine is under a LOT of pressure, so it does "spit out"... but you are told that numerous times in the instructional dvd... so just pay attention and hold on and be ready... problem solved! I don't have a problem with the machine "jumping" around (I thinking of jumping.. as in up and down), my machine slides back a little with the force of the plates coming out, but it don't bother me at all, honestly, I don't really notice it. Also, as with anything new, just practice loading the sandwiches a few times and you will become a pro. I had trouble the first couple of times... but no more.. so easy, fun... and amazingly versatile! I cannot believe how many different dies will work in this machine: sizzix, sizzlits, (I own a Original Sizzix machine too), cuttlebug, fiskars embossing plates, any brass stencil, quickutz, and so many more. Guess what that means? You can buy ANY that are on sale and they will work with this machine. Uh-oh... only problem I can foresee is my spending way too much on all the awesome dies that are out there! Of course the dies made by Spellbinders are amazing in themselves! I already had a couple (and used them with my Sizzix machine, but it wasn't as easy as with the Wizard) and have had so much fun cutting, embossing and stenciling with them! I have tried using my brass stencils with the Wizard as well and it was easy, straight forward (just watch the dvd for instructions) and the results were fantastic! Give the Wizard a try and prepare to be amazed!

I purchased the Wizard with the bag from HSN 2 weeks ago. At first I didn't know if I wanted it because of a couple of negative reviews. I decided there were enough positive reviews for me to go ahead and purchase it and am I happy that I did. This is one awesome machine! It took me a few tries to get the hang of it. The video from I watched had much better instructions than what came with the Wizard. You have to hold on tight to the plates as they are coming out of the Wizard because it jumps. Watch the video and you will be a pro after following the instructions! I love the Wizard and I'm very happy with it! Buy it!!!!

I already had an embossing machine so I was looking for the cutting machine mostly. I chose the Spellbinder Wizard W-00l after I watched the video of all the cutting machines. I liked how much pressure there was to also be able to do my brass stencils. That is what drove me to pick this one. I am very happy with how it works. You DO have to watch the video that comes with it to get the benefit of it. It does crank pretty hard when you have thicker things in it. Also, be ready to catch the pads when they come out. Lots of force!!!!

For what I was looking for, this machine does a great job.

PAn Pastels are an excellent addition to any pastel artists inventory of art supplies. I did have a problem with the order and had to contact the owners of Pan Pastels and asked their help in receiving my order. It was sent, finally, a couple weeks after the due receiving date. But the pastels themselves are wonderful less dust, the dust is a problem for me. I also think they are best used with regular hard and soft pastels. I have a lot of fun creating art with them, too. Love the spatula tools used with them, too.

I purchased this set as a gift for my teenager who wanted to try calligraphy. It is perfect. I looked at sets that had more and less nibs, but this selection of nibs is just the right number for a starter set. It writes beautifully, and is used almost daily.
