I ordered this as an additional set of folders to go with my Sizzix texture boutique beginner's kit. The patterns are really nice and when combined in the sandwich with card-stock paper, you get a nice and crisp pattern. Thanks to Sizzix, I can now make my invitations POP! They are made of a nice sturdy plastic. I just wish these things were: not so expensive, available in Jamaica and that they came in sets with more than 2 A2 folders. Four (4) A2 folders in a set would be even greater :).

Review of Pebeo Setacolor Transparent Fabric Paint Set, Cardboard Box of 10

These are excellent fabric paints. The colors are bright and vibrant, they can be watered down as much as desired, or used out of the bottle as-is, depending on the depth of color desired. They don't change the hand of the fabric unless several layers are placed at higher densities. I can't speak to the permanence of the colors on fabric, because I haven't washed anything more than once yet, but they did well in their first washing, and get high ratings on other sites for their permanence. Any paint on fabric will, over time, abrade in places just from ordinary wear and tear on the item, so long-term permanence depends on what's painted. I'm using them on applique quilts, but have also made some background fabric (skies) with them, now.

Be aware that the colors listed might not be the colors received. When I ordered these for a class, the colors listed were titanium white, ultramarine blue, buttercup, emerald, lemon yellow, black, oriental red, vermilion, parma violet and cobalt blue. The colors I received were emerald, lemon yellow, black, parma violet, cobalt blue, moss green, fawn, fuchsia, turquoise and cardinal red. After a few internet searches, I think the difference between what colors were listed in the set and what colors I received was a change in what the manufacturer includes in the color selection for the set, now. It appears the colors listed were the old version of the set, and what I received was the new version of the set. Unfortunately, I needed four of the colors in the old version for a specific class project. Per Amazon, they will be changing the listing to reflect the colors now in the set, but as of this writing they haven't yet done so. I've no idea if their stock contains both sets or not. I'm sure I'll use all of the paints I received, on other projects, I just had to order individual bottles of the other colors I needed from another source for the class project.

I've found the paints very easy to use, easy cleanup, and I could not be happier with the results on fabric. The colors mix well into other colors, also. Amazon was very gracious in resolving the issue with the receipt of different paint colors, also, which is one of the reasons I shop here.

These paints are great for painting and even dying fabrics. On their website, there are some interesting techniques you can do with them. Other fabric paints I've tried have an Irridescent quality that doesn't work for my projects. I've also found that other brands respond and dry more like and acrylic paint. The Pebeo paints act more like watercolor, but still have an opaque finish and feel like the fabric rather than an iron-on when dry. I love the colors!

I was very excited to order this product, but colors in the set did not match the description on the website. I called customer service and they processed the exchange and resent the prodcut claiming that correct colors would be in the set. The replacemnet arrived and it had the same problem, wrong colors. I sent back both sets and was disappointed that I could not keep the item since I had project in mind.

Sculpey Amazing Eraser Clay - 6 Colors/1oz each Reviews

We received this as a much desired gift. My girls both have ridiculously extensive Iwako collections, so the idea of making their own erasers was very appealing. We're a crafty bunch and are quite familiar with the Sculpey brand we love it!

With this particular clay, however, it was a bit tricky to produce a product that actually erased. After much trial and error, we determined that the erasibility of the product was dependent on the baking time. Per Sculpey.com:

"Bake at 250 °F (130 °C) for 15 minutes per 1/4 in (6 mm) thickness. DO NOT MICROWAVE. Baking should be completed by an adult. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME"

Those familiar with "normal" Sculpey will notice that this is NOT the same temperature as usual.

One factor which could lead to a less than ideal eraser is the calculation of the baking time. The designs that we came up with were rather small neither of my girls seemed to want a brick/paperweight sized eraser...picky, aren't they. Anyway, smaller size = smaller parts, of varying sizes and thickness. It is difficult to determine the bake time of, for example, a strawberry that is an inch at the top, tapering down to an 1/8th of an inch at the bottom. Add to that the leaves and stem, each with their own thickness, and you end up needing a degree in advanced calculus just to determine a proper baking time.

So, purchase this product knowing that:

1. Over baking ='s no erasing.

2. Determining an ideal bake time involves a learning curve.

3. Once #'s 1. and 2. are overcome, this stuff makes wonderfully fun erasers, sure to generate the admiration of one's peers and a possible sales opportunity for your kids.

And, finally,

4. Sculpey is rather chintzy with this clay. Don't expect to get that much of each color.

All in all, I would still recommend this product for children 7-8 and above.

My grand daughter likes crafts. There seems to be plenty of this Sculpey clay to keep making erasers for days. There are many colors to use, and every day when we speak on the phone, she tells me what new erasers she has made. I am particularly pleased that there seems to be enough clay to last a long time. I tried the erasers, and I have to admit I have used better erasers, but they will erase.

My 2 girls love Sculpey clay, so when I saw they offered clay to make erasers I knew they would love that too. They had lots of fun making all kinds of erasers, but that's where the fun ends. The clay does NOT erase. It just leaves a colored smear on the paper. If you are looking for something fun and creative for your kids buy some regular Sculpey clay, but don't waste your money on this. Its not worth it.

Pros:

Keypad provides fast frequency & voltage entries; the units are also easy. Unit computations are automatic. When you enter 3700 and hit the 'Hz' key, it displays & uses 3.700 khz.

The built-in arbitrary waves are useful for many applications.

With the timebase capable of being a slow as 1 micro-hertz (1 million seconds) you can simulate extremely slow sense data.

LABView has a USB driver for Mac, Linux & Windows that allows you to remotely control the unit over USB. The only reason why I know this is because RIGOL requires you to download the driver for Windows from the National Instruments website.

The time base seems to be spot-on with my GWInstek GDS-1062A scope. For 370hz on the generator, the scope reads 369.992hz it seems to be this close or better on all frequencies I've tried

Cons:

The Windows-based software does not work with Windows 7, although it supposed to work with XP, which makes it useless to me. But it seems like the .rdf files for the arbitrary waveform data is just a block 4096, little-endian, unsigned 16-bit values.

Its easy to hack together a program to make make arbitrary waveforms without having to use the front panel to enter each point.

The encoder knob could be better, sometimes it changes by 2 or 0 values per tactile click. Just a minor annoyance.

Overall:

The user-interface is pretty nice and intuitive in most places, like being able to press the 'Freq' twice to toggle it to 'Period' entry mode. The filename entry method could be better, but it is still quite usable. When you exceed a limit, the unit prompts you with a message, and then sets it to that limit. The other thing I like is the you have to manually turn on the outputs, after power-on. Also the outputs are overload protected, they automatically shut off, if you accidentally touch a source of voltage. Just for fun, the LABView driver makes it easy to control it with my Mac, is an added plus, even though I don't ultimately 'need' it.

I threw together a quick command-line program on the Mac, to convert .wav files to the internal .rdf data format that the DG-1022 uses; so, using Audacity & my utility, that covers my total software requirements for this device.

I am very pleased with this unit, it definitely exceeded my expectations as a replacement for my crappy old pulse generator, with all the newfangled features of today's test equipment, at a price point that I can touch.

I am extremely impressed with this device. It has features I would only expect in a much more expensive function generator. I purchased it through Amazon for less than $450. It is easy, convenient and intuitive to use; however, I did have to consult the manual to access some functions. The frequency and amplitude appear accurate, and I have not observed any unexpected disruptions when making changes. The many features are too numerous to mention here. I suggest that you download and review the user and programming manuals. The LCD shows waveforms for various functions; however, you should probably connect the output to a good scope while learning how to use the DS1022. The capabilities of the second channel are limited, but the second channel can be switched to input and used as a frequency counter. You should also be aware that the sine wave is the only output can be used up to 20 MHz.

Despite my positive impression of the value of this device, I considered giving it only four stars for the following reasons. The supplied power cord was not for US power, and I had to use a spare PC power cord. The supplied user manual was in Chinese, but the English version is available as a pdf on the CD or can be downloaded from the Rigol website. The English version is a poor translation form Chinese. It is understandable, but might be hard for inexperienced users to follow. I am concerned that trying to get technical support or warranty repair may be difficult. The software on the supplied CD requires a National Instruments dll which was not included. I have used the software only enough to verify that it works. My impression is that it will require considerable trial and error to use it effectively. My only negative comment about the instatement itself is that the BNC connectors seem flimsy, and might break if too much force is applied.

What a big surprise! Is this April Fools day?

The Rigol DG1022 arrived a day early.

The unit that arrived was not for the USA market, the power cord has the wrong connector so I can't use it.

The quick start manual is printed in Chinese so I can't read it!

So the manual in Chinese isn't such a big deal since I can't apply power to the device because of the wrong power cord!

Within an hour of my original review the provider contacted me by e-mail, appologizing for the error, and explaining how it occured.

They sent a new power cord, confirmed by an e-mail the next morning. They also pointed out that english versions of the instructions are on the included CD(and on Rigol's web site).

I used a power cord from a computer and the electronic manual, the product works well and the provider is very responsive.
