I just recently bought this to "paint" a lot of glass bottles that I got at the local thrift store since I'm a collector of colored glass bottles. I prefer collecting real colored glass, i.e., cobalt glass, or red glass (which are my favorites) or yellow and even green glass. However, those items are either not being manufactured any more or are way too expensive. Since most of "colored" glass that is now being produced is actually "painted" or coated with a type of glass paint, I thought I'd try making my own since the ones I've bought in the past have had the "Paint" flake off, which annoyed me greatly since they seem to be charging as much for them as what I used to pay for REAL colored glass.

Anyhow, the product is as advertised. It is transparent and it does look like what you buy at the local stores. Cleanup is easy with soap and water. You can either use the nozzle on the bottle or a brush, but if you use a brush you need to use a soft watercolor-type brush to avoid a streaked look. (But don't use real expensive watercolor brushes!) The paint seems to go on easier if you use a brush, although you do get that gloppy, gloupy drippy look. So that's the positive aspects of this product.

The negative side: I did not like the fact that the product has a "nozzle" (sort of like what superglue has) instead of a "mini brush" on the end. I found that using the nozzle to paint on round bottles was a bit difficult. The paint tends to run and drip. I tried using it with a brush, and so long as you continue to paint the object without going back over where you have already painted, it's fine. I unfortunately discovered that if you go back over an area already painted before it dried completely, the previous area lifts up and so the object does not have a smooth glass-like finish, but has "lumps" and "bumps" which is clearly noticeable. If you're going for an "imitation" colored glass look, like I was, this is not a good thing.

Also, there was no instructions with this sample kit as to how long I should wait between coats, or whether I needed to heat treat it in an oven to "set" the color. There is another manufacturer (with much more expensive paint) which requires you to heat treat it and then it's microwave and dishwasher safe. For my purposes, since these bottles will probably never be washed or microwaved, I didn't care and this was really only an experiment to see if painting bottles with this product would allow me to "imitate" the look of real colored glass.

I also intend to experiment with using this glass stain to "paint" a scene on glass, so stay tuned to this "station" for further updates about this product as I experiment some more. :)

Maybe I was not using it the way it was intended, but I found it too runny to work with the way I wanted. The colors are beautiful and bright, and the bottles are easy to use. If the item were leaded and flat they would be perfect. Not what I was using them for.

I purchased this product to do a computer case mod on a clear acrylic case. It adheres fine to the material and the color is bright, clear, and a nice accent to the clear fans as I variegated red, yellow, and orange on the blades. The kit comes with yellow too, a plus since yellow isn't in the picture, so I didn't expect to get it. Light shows through it very nicely. It's like a cathedral glass effect. It adheres to transparency material as well, and I'm painting manga art for the sides of the computer.

I am a visual artist who has been putting most of my work on paper for more than a decade, using felt-tips, watercolor and gel pen. Recently I began painting with acrylic again. I read up on what artists are using now with their acrylics and found many to being using mediums exclusively---no water. I found this glazing medium by Folk Art to be a good medium to use---though I will admit to still using a little water with it. It prolongs the drying time by a few minutes---if you are a blender, this is a plus.. I get very nice glazing effects with minimal effort. I don't think you can find a better product for craftwork or artwork for the money.

Product works very well. We used as a glaze for Paperclay ornaments and it put a really good layer on them before applying the paint. The only criticism that I have is that of the two bottles I ordered, two lids were loose and product did spill into the box onto other items. Thankfully the items were not ruined and could be wiped off but how much of the glaze was wasted?

I bought this item to use in an advent candle holder in a dorm-no burning candles allowed. The item takes batteries (not included) and the connection is not always good, so you have to jiggle the battery around to get it to work. In addition, you have to screw and unscrew from the bottom, so it has to be taken out of the holder. It worked for what I needed it for, but it was not as easy to manage as I would hope. If you plan to get yourself, take into consideration what it is you are using it for, and is it worth the hassle.

I bought these candles to try to save money. The group I am with uses a MUCH more expensive candle. When using both candles during an evening event, they were indistinguishable from one another. which was the effect I was hoping for, hence the 4 star rating. However, the candles are shorter than I anticipated and are easily engulfed in the average man's hand. They feel cheap, like a plastic flashlight with a Christmas lights' bulb. As of yet, I don't know if they will last since they will only be used three times a year. For the first time use, they did the job.

Since I have never bought battery operated candles before, I have nothing to compare them to, but thought they could be a little brighter. But in safety matters they are great. Approximately half of the candles did not work. Most of the candles when the bottom is screwed back on they continually cross thread. The ones that didn't work, you could play with, and sometimes get it to work. Luckily they do come with an extra bulb because a lot of them need to have the bulb replaced before you can even use them. They are bright when they work and they will do for what I'm using them for.

BUMMER! These are not sticky. For goodness sakes, that's the whole point--a sticky mat that fits the cricut machine. After ruining paper and wasting time, I sprayed them with spray adhesive (carefully, you can't get adhesive on the edges or they won't track through the machine). That has worked, so if you've already bought these and are frustrated, try the spray adhesive.

As a former courtroom artist in San Francisco, I highly recommend Pentel color brushes.

I have been drawing and painting with Pentel Color Brushes (formerly known as Brush Pens) for 20 years. Previously, I had drawn for years with Pelikan ink pens.

Once I had tried using Pentel brushes, I couldn't go back to the limited line offered by a regular ink pen.

Pentel's brushes allow a great range of expression, from super-black thick pools and wet strokes, to fine black lines with almost imperceptible delicacy, to drybrush techniques that allow perfectly calibrated tints from 0 to 100% (if you practice).

The key is to know how the brush hairs are loaded and what the brush is going to deliver -never put the brush down if you don't know how the ink is flowing. Once you know that the brush is dry, it will remain dry, mostly. Once you squeeze the brush cartridge and know that the brush is loaded, it will remain loaded until you let the ink flow onto the paper, dissipating it.

The brush hairs can be used as a unified stroke, or they can spread to provide doubleor triple-strokes.

Sometimes, you can be surprised with how the brush hairs touch the paper, and the result can show elements of chance.

Although I carry them in a sealed plastic bag, I find that I can carry them for a short time unbagged in my pocket, and they don't leak.

Don't expect to be able to make great art from them before practicing for hours. They are like musical instruments -they take time to learn.

I highly recommend Pentel color brushes and their cartridge refills -at least the black ones. I did use the colored ones once, and all of the colors faded after the painting had been left in the sun.

Hopefully, I'll be using the black color brushes for the next 20 years.

THE BRUSH OF A THOUSAND CURSES

I do a lot of cartooning and I have found this pen to be a blessing and the eternal bane of my artistic existence. I can't ink with a pen because the line isn't expressive enough, and my hand shakes ever so slightly. A brush minimizes the tremor in my lines and gives an appealing smooth expressiveness to them. I can't stand using real brushes; the barrels are always too thin, which makes my hand shake more, which is fixable by wrapping the brush with wads of tape, but the constant dipping into the inkwell drives me insane. In college I used to use the fat end of the Sakura Sumi Brush pen ... I cried when I couldn't find them anymore. The Copic was no good at all .. the Tombow ink is water-soluble, which means Fingerprints Galore .. I liked the Kuretake sumi pen, but then couldn't find refills for it (not so terrible a tragedy since the Kuretake did occasionally leak) so I was going to try filling a Pentel Aquash with ink .. But then I saw the Colorbrush in the art store. I have used it constantly for the last decade, and in balance I'd have to say I am pleased with it. Mostly.

What I like: The barrel is wide and long so it's easy to hold and minimizes my hand tremors. The nib is ENORMOUS and just the right amount of springy so you can get a thin line without having to hover painfully, and thick lines come with intentional pressure. The barrel holds a LOT of ink, so they last a reasonably long time.

What I hate: You have to squeeze the barrel to make the ink flow. In theory this gives you more "control" which must be true since I absolutely hate the fully-automatic Pocket Brush (also from Pentel). But in reality this means you spend 2/3 of your time being irritated because the pen is either too dry or too wet. Usually it's too dry. The line is gray and feathery; I want it to be solid & black, so I squeeze the pen. It gurgles. The line is still too dry. Squeeze it again. Gurgle. Still too dry, but wait a minute, because the ink must be coming. So I plod along at half-speed with a dry brush, waiting for the ink to show up. Nothing's happening. Squeeze it again. Still nothing.

What I used to do at this point was to swear at the pen and squeeze it REALLY HARD, and then suddenly the nib would be soaked and the only thing I could draw with it at that point was big wet smeary blobs. I'd have to prop it face-up in a cup and wait for the ink to flow back, or waste the ink by blotting it on a towel until it was right again. Later, I learned patience which means I lose the same amount of time but not as much ink as I gently squeeze and cajole the pen to behave correctly. It still has a diabolical tendency to over-soak. The ink never comes fast enough when I squeeze it, and I've never been able to figure out exactly how to time it so it comes out right. Most of the time it is either too dry or too wet. Those moments when it is just right are rare and precious as diamonds. It usually works perfectly for 2 days just before the cartridge runs dry, and then I screw a new one on, and the nightmare begins again.

Still, it's the best brush pen I've found (which is a sad statement on the nature of brush-pen technology.) I rely on it. I don't know what I'd do without it. I am trapped in an endless cycle of childish delight and white-hot fury. Get this pen and you can join me among the ranks of the damned. I recommend it. As long as people keep buying this, Pentel will keep manufacturing it and I need those refills to continue to be available.

I have tried over the years to do brush lettering but despite suggestions from a pro, I have never found one sturdy enough. This one does the trick! Only problem is that the ink is water soluble so if that is an issue for you, get the Pentel POCKET brush. The barrel is shorter but the ink is waterproof. MY FAVORITE PEN since the rapidograph!

I purchased this pen hoping for a bit more control of the ink, which it does deliver. It allows wonderful ability for detail and if you care to apply more ink for a messy look, you can do it. The big drawback, however is the ink. It takes forever to dry (I'm almost at 12 hours and it STILL isn't dry). This could be a great pen if Pentel would adjust the drying time on the ink.

We used this to make impressions of my six month old's hands and feet. We were able to imprint both hands and one foot, as well as write her name and date in the frame. The clay is soft and pliable and a lovely pale pink. 2 words of caution: 1) take your time when you're working the clay into the frame, as it picks up imprints from whatever touches it and 2) to get a really clear imprint, you do have to press the baby's hand in, so it may not work well for newborn's hands (feet would probably be no problem). Our oven did not have a low enough setting to follow the instructions, but we baked it at 175 degrees (f) and had no problems. It looks so good, I'm thinking of buying one for each grandparent!

Good product. However, I just went to the home depot and bought a package of gold OOK hangers for 8 bucks and change and I got SIXTY (60) sets of nail and hanger in one package. Their website did not have the item but I had to go and return something so I went to the aisle where the picture hangers were and they were there in a hard plastic container.

I've used these silver ones too in the past and they are hardy. The hanger seems harder than the gold ones but not a big deal. I would not take this picture hanger up to the 20 lb. challenge. the nail is short and will be safe on most drywall but not if the painting is too heavy. If you have a really heavy painting of 20 lbs. or a very long landscape style painting, you can divide the distance of the painting by 3 and put two hooks up at the thirds position on the wall and double hang the work. This will not only distribute the weight easier but will also keep the painting from rocking side to side.

TIP: If you are going to hang a painting, drill the wires hanger (D rings and wiring) into the back of the painting stretcher bars not into the frame. That way, if you ever want to change the frame from the picture, you don't have to drill into your frame and you can change it out easily because the wires are attached to the stretcher bars and not the frame which may change if you decide to hang the painting in another room or want a different style.

I purchased this machine for basic stitching with my daughter. We were so disappointed when we could not even get one simple hemline out of it! The stitches were sometimes pretty, and sometimes they wouldn't catch the bottom thread at all, and sometimes the needle got jammed. We tried it with different tensions, and different materials, but were never completely successful. The entire process was so aggravating that my daughter declared she'd rather sew by hand!! I accidentally purchased this "sewing genie" because I thought I was buying a "mini-rex machine". However, the seller wrote a note that said this "sewing genie" was a similar version of the mini-rex. Had I read the note carefully I wouldnt've bought this because it is a piece of garbage. In the first 15 minutes I used it, I bent two needles, busted the thread about 5 times and couldn't sew through more than 2 layers of THIN sheets. I am fairly experienced with sewing machines so I was able to mess with it and get it to work eventually after about 30 minutes. I do not recommend this machine for anyone, not even a beginner because it is terrible. It shook so much on the table that I had to get someone to hold it down for me so that the stitches weren't completely crooked. I guess you can't expect much from a $20 machine but I know that there are other $20 machines out there that are SIGNIFICANTLY better than this one. In the end, I was able to sew the sheet I needed to sew but I would've rather paid the seamstress to do it instead of this nightmare.

This machine works once you figure out how to load the bottom bobbin correctly. It was a bit tricky at first and I wanted to give up. It's my first time using a sewing machine.

This thing is not made for heavy duty sewing, but I was able to alter a pair of jeans without a hitch. Overall, I'm pleased with this product. It's cheap and it comes with plenty of thread and accessory pre-spooled bobbins. There's a foot pedal so you're hands are free to guide the fabric while sewing. It comes with an adapter, too.

I enjoyed using this product. But it took time to figure out how to configure the thread & bobbin settings correctly. Not for impatient people.

I've had one of these for a few years and it works great. I don't even remember the last time I used my "real" sewing machine. You do need to fiddle a little with it to get the stitches right but once you get the hang of it it works pretty well. I have even machine washed stuff that I sewed with it and it held on.

Do keep in mind that it only does simple straight sewing. You can do backstitching or zigzags or anything fancy.

The paint is a bit sticky when you paint this duck, but in reality he is a duck and most ducks do not enjoy being painted. Even now that he is dry, but he is still a bit sticky. My 3 year old loved painting this duck. It took about a half hour for him to make it "perfect." The paint has not come off in the tub, but I suspect it would abrade (or peel) if I let my 11 month old chew on it. Although he had a great time with the painting, he feels he is a little too old for ducky play ("Big kids play with PIRATES, Mama"). It makes a nice bathroom decoration.
